Bowl, it won't be shortened. The great thing where we live is people ask you what you want your child to be called and they call them that. If i introduce him as Dominic then that is how he will be known as. Nurseries only use the full version of the names, no nicknames.

I call my Dd Bella but in nursery she is called by her full name, Isabella. I am sure i won't be using Dom or Jonny as NN. I am more the "pumpkin" and "monkey" NN person.Smile

Once he gets to school it will almost certainly be shortened to Dom or Jonny. But it will be his name so his place to say whether he likes it or not.

BlessedAssurance · 27/03/2014 21:42

True squoosh. Dd corrects people on her name and she is 3. Some have called her Isabel and put them straight and some have tried to call her Bella like i do, they are corrected as wellGrin. I am not fussy about NN though.

Did i mention i am in labourGrin. Contractions every going on and here i am Mning...it's going to be a long night.

I love Dominic. We have an awesome friend named that, whereas the 2 Jonathans I know are sort of wet!

Bowlersarm · 27/03/2014 22:09

Blimey, you are a lot cooler than I was in labour.

Good luck, let us know how it goes and what you decide on.

Weegiemum · 27/03/2014 22:10

Dominic

Nocomet · 28/03/2014 23:19

It will become Dom, which is truely awful.

He'll probably do it himself just to annoy you.

BlessedAssurance · 29/03/2014 01:41

Hello everyone Grin Dominic eventually graced us with his presence at 3pm yesterday after being in labour for 19hrs.I was trying for a VBAC but the little monkey was so high up that he could not be born vaginally. However, he is the coolest baby ever. He was put next to me and found the boob himself in seconds, latched on and is doing great. Because he was not engaged i ended up having a C Section which was not bad at. He is a big boy of 4.1kg with a full head of hair and the connection i have with him is amazing. Thank you all for helping with choosing the name. It suits his viking big self. Now I am off to getting my well deserved new born cuddlesGrin.
