I think there used to be a cruise ship with that name...so for me it's a "no"

DramaAlpaca · 23/03/2014 23:44

Yes, there's a P&O cruise ship called Oriana. That was my first thought as well.

Orianna might be OK, though.

LittleBearPad · 23/03/2014 23:49

Sorry, cruise ship.

Arianna??

AlpacaYourThings · 23/03/2014 23:52

I prefer Arianna.

It's pretty and different. I doubt the majority of people out there are all too familiar with cruise ship names so that's not an issue in my eyes.

Because of the popularity of Rihanna the singer, I'd probably pronounce it as Oh-ree-anna at first sight though. Not sure what the correct pronunciation should be?

amandine07 · 24/03/2014 07:03

How about Orianne?
I once knew a lovely lady with that name :-)

DrankSangriaInThePark · 24/03/2014 07:06

I think most people (if this thread is anything to go by!) immediately think cruise ships.

It will also be misheard as Arianna anyway. Or Rihanna. (I wouldn't use Arianna (at least in the UK) for the same reason. Unless you have Italian etc background, people will I think just think Rihanna. I used to love Rihannon though, when I had a girlcrush on Stevie Nicks.

No. It sounds made up.

NauseousKitty · 25/03/2014 21:41

Just to be controversial, I quite like it. My DH suggested it the other day as he has come across it in a historical book he was reading. Still mulling it over on our short list.

Theonlyoneiknow · 25/03/2014 21:46

What about Aria?

SpaceKoala · 25/03/2014 22:00

What about Auriona..
Name of a friends cousin, suits her :)
