Can Tilly be a nn for anything other than Matilda?

I like Tilly and I like Matilda in theory. But occasionally I think it's a bit harsh sounding?

Other names we like are Alice, Charlotte, Florence, Lydia... Does Matilda 'go' with these names? I can't decide.

I knew a Natalie who went by the nn Tilly.

I would say Charlotte or Florence work best with Mathilda

I don't like Mathilderalice and the two 'a' sounds at the end make Lydia sound a bit clunky.

Sorry, posting from my phone so wrong spelling of Matilda.

TheGrassIsSinging · 22/03/2014 15:39

Ottilie

Tilda... Like Tilda Swinton. Much nicer than Matilda in my opinion! Grin

I know a 6 year old felicity known as Tilly

Amandine29 · 22/03/2014 16:45

Felicity is nice, does feel a bit of a stretch to Tilly though I like Fliss.

The names I listed aren't middle name potentials, they're just other names we like.

The name Matilda has actually grown on me since posting this Grin Thanks all.

I'm an adult Felicity and Tilly feels miles away from my name. Massive, ridiculous stretch.

I know an Ottilie, nn Tilly. I think it's lovely. She had a sister Charlotte.

Natalie.
