What is the baby boy equivalent to...

Girl names are easy. There are so many pretty names. Myself, I prefer short, kick ass names like Maud, Ivy, Maeve, Enid, Bess.... Marmite names I suppose. But boys names are hard, no impossible. I don't like cutsie old man names like Wilfie, Archie. What is the boy version of my marmite girl names?!

Maud, Ivy etc. are very 1940s / 50s - is that something you'd like in a boy's name as well? Fred, Ray etc.

Fred and Stanley are along the right lines I suppose but not up there with the girls names. Not keen on Ray and Spike.

Frank seems to be love or hate.

I have a Frank and love the name. It fits your brief without being a popular as Stan, Alfie, Arthur etc. It's definitely a marmite name but we've had loads of positivity and think it's cool, strong and simple.

I've got/had relatives with 3 of your girl's names.If alive they would be in their 80's & 90's.
Along with Betty ,Mabel and Esme they married Fred,Richard,Horace, Robert ,Harold and Gordon.
