I seem to keep coming back to these two names. Dd1 is Arabella. Which would you choose?

Sophia goes best with Arabella.

When saying "Arabella and Louisa" there are too many Ls.

But both are beautiful names.

Sparklysilversequins · 12/03/2014 10:25

Louisa. Love it.

TheScience · 12/03/2014 10:27

Louisa. If my son's nursery class is anything to go by she'd be one of several Sophias/Sofias/Sophies in her class.

HyvaPaiva · 12/03/2014 10:27

Louisa

Allalonenow · 12/03/2014 10:30

They are both lovely names, but Sophia is very popular, so I would pick Louisa.

aGirlDownUnder1 · 12/03/2014 10:41

Louisa, a lovely name and not overly popular

smokeandglitter · 12/03/2014 11:11

Louisa :-)

Louisa. Makes me think of a Georgian or Victorian literary heroine.
I know more Sophie/Sophias from 0-20 in age than any other name by quite a margin.

Mrsindecision · 13/03/2014 15:56

I see Sophie and Sophia as completely different names - so wouldn't lump them together in terms of popularity (just as I see Julie/Julia/Juliet and Anne/Anna etc all as different names). Both names are lovely, and Sophia is obviously the more popular choice. To me however, Sophia just has a bit more about it than Louisa does.

Louisa

SaltyGoodness · 13/03/2014 17:51

Does Arabella get her name shortened? If she gets 'Bella' (and they all do), then think about whether you like Soph/Fee or Lou/Lulu/Weeza as the nicknames maybe?

Buzimomma · 13/03/2014 22:33

Thanks for the feedback so far. Seems that Louisa is proving to be the more popular choice on this thread. SaltyGoodness no, Arabella isn't shortened - I'm not keen on nicknames generally. Dh seems to be favouring Sophia, and I keep swinging between the two. I was always certain about the name Arabella with dd1, but am really struggling this time! Confused

I'm a Sophia, known as Sophie. Before I started using Sophie for everything, I got no end of "Is it Soph-eye-a (which it is), Soph-ee-ya or Sophie-ah?" So bear that in mind. It is a lovely name though.

Louisa for me. Beautiful name.

Sophia is a bit too ubiquitous. And I say that as someone who has a name that is currently (among small children; not my own generation) a bit too ubiquitous. :)

leesam · 14/03/2014 09:39

I have a Sophia and we Havn't come across any other ones yet and she is 4 . Only know 1 Louisa . X congrats on pregnancy x

OrlaNuttin · 14/03/2014 10:56

I love Louisa (I have one!) and Sophia was on my list too, so you clearly have excellent taste in names Smile
I think Sophia goes slightly better with Arabella, but you're on a winner with either!

Nataleejah · 14/03/2014 14:15

Louisa

WillSingForCake · 14/03/2014 14:35

Both lovely, I prefer Sophia.

Sorry OP, we're not being much help really, as seems a 50/50 split!

MrsShortfuse · 14/03/2014 15:16

Both gorgeous. I have an acquaintance with a Sophia and they've had lots of misspelling at nursery and school and with friends. Less chance of that with Louisa, if that matters to you.
