girls names shortlist help please :)

A couple of weeks ago we found out bump number two is a girl. Have four year old twin boys so this is the first time i've got to use any girls names. Would like to use the middle name Ann, despite the fact it's incredibly dull, to honour a close family friend, ( my mum's best friend,) who died suddenly and unexpectedly last year. Current favourites on our shortlist are:

Suzie
Tina
Sammy
Bella
Maisy

Any other suggestions would be welcome. Also quite like Lola, would have probably used it as a middle name if we weren't going to use Ann for family reasons.

Boys names are Freddie and Dexter, ( middle names Oscar and Jay,) if that helps decide what fits with siblings lol

From your list like Bella and Maisy. How about Annabel?

From your list, my favourites are Lola and Bella. Lola Ann works well, why not that? Other options along the same lines-Katie, Heidi, Poppy, Evie, Sarah, Emily, Xanthe.

Lolabella Ann?

Loralie?

Maisie and Bella are pretty.

You could go for Annabella lola?

Or Arabelle/a Ann

My favourite from your list is Maisy Bella is also lovely, Suzie and Sammy are both okay. Really not keen on Tina, sorry.

Suzie is very uncommon, but easy and well known.

I don't like Tina.

That's quite a diverse list, some very 70s/80s names, with some more in use now.

I quite like suzie, Bella (though v popular now) and Maisie.

Could Lola be Lilla, Lillian, Lara, Lilith, Leila? There are lots of nice L names. Lola is nice. To me it suggests the Kinks song (which I might well find myself singing if I met a Lola), then Charlie and Lola.

Ann is a country mile lovelier than Lola- elegant, timeless, classic.

Lola = transvestite/showgirl. Too "trendy". The rest are ok, a bit nick namey.prefer the Maisie spelling.

Bella I find boring and there are a lot of Isabels. Like Sammy, would that be Samatha (?) and it is underused. Suzie is also underused but I'm not keen as it was our dog's name!mTina could be short for Christina which is pretty.

Could you go for Anya or Anna as a first name and honour your mum's friend that way?

I like Suzie best but Suzie Ann sounds like Suzanne which would put me off. I also don't like having first name ending and second name starting with the same letter, so wouldn't have Tina Ann, Lola Ann or Bella Ann for that reason.

Sammy is too nicknamey for me, so I guess that leaves Maisy Ann!

I like Suzie (prefer Susie) and Tina the best, but would prefer it to be a nickname for something like Christina, Valentina, Bettina or Martina.

I like both Suzie and Tina as diminutives, but not on their own, plus Suzie Ann does look odd. Love Suzanna though.

I think with Ann as a middle name I'd choose a longer first name to balance it in any case, of your list as it stands I think only Maisy really works.

I think a longer full name would be nice, with nicknames.

Suzannah - Suzie
Christina - Tina
Samantha - Sammy
Isabella - Bella
And Maisy by itself

We've discounted Suzie as we think Suzie Ann sounds too much like Suzanne, which we really don't like.

For some reason we really like both Sammy Ann and Tina Ann by themselves. Is Tina really to dated > I think it sounds very pretty but am not sure if t' jut pregnancy hormones talking. I couldn't use "Christina," as that is the name of my husbands rather vile Jeremy Kyle esque cousin, ( it is never shortened to "Chrissy" or "Tina," tho." ) Another problem with Christina is we don't like the "Chrissy" shortening.

If you love Tina all by itself then use it!

Possible alternatives to Christina as 'long' name for Tina: as well as Valentina, Bettina, Martina listed above, there is also Clementina, Justina, Florentina, Katina, Kerstina, Celestina....

We've now decided we like april as well. Would that be weird as she wont be born in april.

Our choices now are :

April Ann, Sammy Ann, Tina Ann or Bella Ann
