My girl short list - opinions and other suggestions?

I like these names but don't love any of them as much as I love DS's name. Middle name will be Ivy after my granny.

Meredith
Beatrix
Calista
Talitha

Any thoughts or similar suggestions? I prefer names that can be shortened. Thanks!

I like Beatrix and Meredith. What would you shortened them to?

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 09/03/2014 20:07

Meredith is the only one I like to be honest, and I love it!

shouldbedoingtheironing · 09/03/2014 20:07

Meredith is pretty - I also like Merrion.

Calista is nice although makes me think of Calista Flockhart (but that's no bad thing as I loved Ally McBeal!!).

Yes Meredith is lovely, don't like the others.

Dunwhingin · 09/03/2014 20:13

I have a personal campaign to have more girls christened Aurelia, I REALLY love the name.
but of your list I really like Meredith, I see a happy person known as Merry for short who skips through life with a smile (no pressure or anything, please ignore the teenage years)

MrsBungle · 09/03/2014 20:17

Meredith is lovely

vichill · 09/03/2014 20:21

another lover of the name Aurelia here. v classy. of the list I like Beatrix the most. bebe for short.

Don't like Callista much.
Meredith and Beatrix are both pretty.
I prefer tabitha to talitha.

SimplySara · 09/03/2014 21:02

I really like Talitha, it is so much better than Tabitha.

The other names are also nice, I really like Meredith but not a fan of the name Merry (which is basically just Mary as nn are usually just said not written)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/03/2014 21:18

I like Meredith.

hubbahubster · 10/03/2014 19:42

It would be Bea or Bebe and Meri/Merry - TBH I prefer Meredith and DH prefers Beatrix!

Beatrix is lovely! Possibly tabitha rather than talitha? Can imagine it benign misheard a lot which may get annoying. Also Merry is a super cute nickname.

TessRA · 11/03/2014 21:16

Oh dear it must be me but I find all those names really dull or frumpy other than Tabitha which is gorgeous and would have been a contender had I had a girl.

PunkAssMoFo · 11/03/2014 21:44

Love Meredith & Beatrix

Other suggestions:
Adelaide
Marianne
Francesca
Ramona
Romilly
Lorelei
Estelle
Coraline

DitsyDonkey · 11/03/2014 22:15

Beatrix is lovel especially with the nn Bee

hubbahubster · 12/03/2014 14:38

Tabitha sounds like a cat's name to me…

soontobeslendergirl · 12/03/2014 14:57

I'd add Marissa - Meredith is probably my favourite.

Aurelia sounds like a body part to me :o

BananaHammocks · 12/03/2014 18:33

Dunwhingin I would love to help your campaign and call my girl Aurelia, my problem with it is that it seems to be pronounces approximately 9 different ways! Ow-raylia, Or-eelia, uh-rellia?????

Am I the only one who automatically thinks Meredith Kercher? I don't know any other Merediths so it's the first thing I think.

nicelyneurotic · 13/03/2014 22:47

I love Calista! Beautiful. I like Tabitha but not Talitha.
I know a little Meredith but am not a fan of the name.

PolyesterBride · 13/03/2014 22:53

Beatrix is nice and Meredith is ok too.

The others are a bit chavvy I think (sorry if that sounds bad)
