I think it's lovely but I'm not sure if enough time has passed to escape the 'teenage witch' label. Thought please - thanks

Honestly - both! I like it but it does have certain wiggly nosed connotations...

RustyBear · 01/03/2014 08:00

There's a Sabrina at the school I work at - I can honestly say I have never thought of the teenage witch when I see her, even though I used to watch it every day with DD on Nickelodeon.

RubyGoat · 01/03/2014 08:04

It reminds me of Audrey Hepburn, actually, very elegant.

NadiaWadia · 01/03/2014 08:04

Wasn't 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch' on in the 90s? So by the time your DD is going to school I am sure her generation won't have a clue about that.

It's lovely.

GoldenDaffodil · 01/03/2014 08:04

Well that's comforting Rusty. I must confess I watched the show as a teenager but when I came across the name in a baby names book my first thought was how pretty it was and it took a while to think of the witch.

I thought Audrey Hepburn. I used to watch the teenage witch and the connection didn't occur to me until I read your post.

I think classy and underused.

GoldenDaffodil · 01/03/2014 08:06

I thought of the Audrey Hepburn film too LegoCaltrops.

Showing my age now, but it reminds me of the 80's Italian pop singer/glamour model who sang "Boys" in her see-through white bikini! I wouldn't mind the witch connection, but the sleazy image of her in the pool puts me right off the name!

curiousgeorgie · 01/03/2014 08:32

I do think teenage witch but I think that's why I like it Wink

freelancegirl · 01/03/2014 08:34

I was thinking the same thing yesterday! Was idly wondering whether both Sabrina the teenage witch and also Sabrina of Boys Boys Boys fame would put me off. But it's a lovely name.

meditrina · 01/03/2014 08:35

I like it.

I wouldn't think teenage witch, rather Charlie's Angels.

OhNoYouExpedidnt · 01/03/2014 08:36

I think teenage witch straight away BUT that's because it's the only one I know. If it was the name of someone I actually knew I would think of them. I say go for it!

Sundaedelight · 01/03/2014 08:38

Sabrina is very underused and yet most are familiar with it. A very pretty name, used to know a German Sabine.

HyvaPaiva · 01/03/2014 08:39

It makes me think of Audrey Hepburn! It's lovely.

ReallyGoodDrawer · 01/03/2014 08:40

I think of the teenage witch but it was my favourite programme ever (apart from maybe Clarissa) so it wouldn't put me off because she was super cool! It won't affect your dd within her age group anyway.

OneMoreThenNoMore · 01/03/2014 08:44

It's lovely! I do think of the teenage witch when I first hear it, but that's not a negative connotation.

I'd guess that only females who were teenagers in the mid 90s that would associate the name with the TV programme- most people would just think it's a lovely name.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 01/03/2014 08:45

Shock I'm not a teenage witch. Sabrina is the most desirable woman in the western hemisphere - model, novelist, international jet-setter... Grin

GoldenDaffodil · 01/03/2014 09:53

What could Sabrina be shortened to?

OP posts:
NadiaWadia · 01/03/2014 09:54

Bree?

juneybean · 01/03/2014 09:56

I was a huge STTW fan so it does make me think of the show, but it's a lovely name!

LePetitPont · 01/03/2014 11:30

How about Sabina - no r? I loved the teenage witch!

Mireio · 03/03/2014 00:20

It could be shortened to Sabi / Sabby, Sabri, Brina, Bree, Rina

Cuxibamba · 03/03/2014 02:41

I love it and wouldn't think of the teenage witch in particular, although I loved it. Her generation won't think of it- the name is beautiful and underused imo.

SlinkyB · 03/03/2014 02:44

I have a friend called this - she's affectionately known as Beanie. Love her name.

thegreatgatsby101 · 03/03/2014 06:41

Gorgeous name. And underused.
