We have come across the name Joah. What's your opinions? We like Noah too but it's just a little too popular for us as we like something a bit different but not too out there. Thanks in advance :)

Not sure. I kind of like it, but wouldn't people constantly mis-hear it as Jo?

snoggle · 28/02/2014 15:10

It's quite nice (isn't there a Joah's white Farrow and Ball colour) , but I would worry people would think it was joey but with a Manchester accent.

C4ro · 28/02/2014 15:11

It sounds like Joel and Noah forced together. I'd pick one or the other of them instead.

Mollydoggerson · 28/02/2014 15:12

It sounds very extreme right Christian, as a jumble of letters together the sound is pleasing.

missmagnum · 28/02/2014 15:13

I quite like it, just be prepared for having to say it a few times before its heard properly.

winterhat · 28/02/2014 15:13

How about Jonah?

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 28/02/2014 15:33

Doesn't surprise me if it's Biblical, it might be a bit unusual but why not.

squoosh · 28/02/2014 15:54

A nice name. Sounds Old Testament without being too hellfire and brimstone like Jedediah or Ezekiel are.

People will hear 'Noah' though.

lynniep · 28/02/2014 16:00

thats my boys name Smile - they become one when I can't remember their names! (Joey and Noah)

I quite like it personally. Maybe thats because I say it quite a lot!

ToffeeJungle · 28/02/2014 16:46

Not keen. Sounds made up. Much prefer Noah, Joel or Jonah.

Only1scoop · 28/02/2014 16:49

Sounds like you have just made it up....sorry no likey Hmm

RiverTam · 28/02/2014 16:49

just googled it and it is a proper biblical name.

I like it. I think it's one that everyone will get used to very quickly.

In fact, I can imagine your DS being a very uber-cool teenager with that name!

squoosh · 28/02/2014 16:52

It isn't made up, it's just not very common.

Dreya · 01/03/2014 22:09

Oooh, now Joah I really like. I am going to suggest this to my friend who likes the name Noah but not the popularity of it. Never heard Joah before. It's great!

DramaAlpaca · 01/03/2014 22:14

I'm not keen on Noah, but I really like Joah. I've never heard it before.

mummy1973 · 01/03/2014 22:17

Joshua or Josiah might be alternatives?

SirChenjin · 01/03/2014 22:19

It sounds like you've made it up - or that you've spent a long time reading the Bible. Not keen, sorry.

agnesrose86 · 01/03/2014 22:21

I have been thinking about JOA. but I have to admit I got the idea from a car number plate!

nooka · 01/03/2014 22:26

I assumed it was made up too, but on googling I see it's just very obscure. I think it would be a bit of a nuisance of a name to have as so many people will assume that they have misheard Joe, Jonah or Noah.

bouquetofpencils · 02/03/2014 13:24

I love it. I also like Josiah, Jonah and Joel, and the ever popular Joseph.
If I heard this I would think cool, like Noah but funkier.

Nataleejah · 02/03/2014 19:44

It is possible is biblical. Bible is full of weird names, my fav is Jezreel

SpocksThirdEar · 02/03/2014 20:57

Ooh yes, I like it too. But then I like obscure biblical names despite not being at all religious.

Millie2013 · 02/03/2014 20:59

I like it!

Frikadellen · 02/03/2014 21:12

i like it

justhayley · 02/03/2014 21:40

I have a Noah and love it. Prefer Jonah to Joah although it is a proper biblical name to me it like it's missing something.
