Boys names meaning gift, blessing, happiness etc.

After months of deliberation and thinking we had 'the name' we're still undecided. Last night, OH suggested Nathan and I quite like it (nn Nate) especially as it has the meaning "gift from God". We are not religious, but I do see this little one as a gift/blessing and I'm beginning to think it would be nice to have a name which reflects that. I also like the name Asher (meaning happy) but OH not keen. Jason means healer, which would be quite fitting as my daughter was stillborn 3 1/2 years ago so finally having another baby to love is quite healing. Again, OH not overly excited about the name.

Any other names with similar meanings?

Benedict - blessed
Felix - happy and prosperous

I love the meaning of David as that's also the meaning of my daughter's name, Amia, but it's also the name of my daughter's paternal grandad which puts me off using it as a name. (My daughter's father and his family have had nothing to do with me since her funeral.)
Love the name Benedict but think it sounds awkward with the surname (Geaney)
OH actually suggested Darrell a while back but had to veto it as my very close friend has a brother called Darrell who she despises. Lots of not so nice history between them
I'm not looking to push Asher as a name as OH really doesn't like it and I don't LOVE it.
I actually really like Nathan, I'd just prefer to have a few options in case he doesn't look like a Nathan when he arrives

Theo, or Theodore, means god's gift.

Oooh, I like Theo! It doesn't strike me as OHs taste, though I will run it past him later.

It is a lovely name. My friend's Jonathan really suits his name too He was named after his daddy.

Blythe (= happy) is often used as a girl's name, but could perhaps be a middle name for a boy because it's also a surname

Thanks for all these name ideas. I will have to see if any are to OHs liking.. I like Theo and Oron from the suggestions so far, although still leaning towards Nathan. Middle name will be Richard (family name) so can't really use anything with Ed in it for his first name. My brother Richard had a twatty friend called Ed and I always referred to them as Dick n Ed when they were together lol

I think Ewan, John and Michael have a similar meaning to Nathan (gift from God).

Raphael is a cool name. I don't think it goes with the rest of the name though.
I'm thinking Nathan will be pretty hard to beat as I think it sounds good with the surname, with or without the middle name, and obviously love it as a name on it's own. Also, it's the only name OH has been really passionate about.

I know the most gorgeous wee boy called Tate, meaning cheerful. Similar, but different.

I like Tate, but I still prefer Nate/Nathan. I like that the nickname is optional and that there are different nicknames to choose from as he's growing up
