I prefer your original choice of Ava and Ezra Don't be put off by other peoples opinions. If both you and your OH like the names, then stick with them.

I like Corinne but not effie

I wouldn't give twins the same initial. There are thousands of times in life you just use an initial as shorthand so it's good to have a different one from your brother.
I prefer Corinne (as I said on the other thread), but, if it's my personal opinion you want, I really don't like the name Ezra. However, that's just personal choice.

Effie just screams "F... off" to me, sorry. Also agree not to give the same initials if you can help it. Two of mine have the same initial and certain things (the children's saving account, premium bonds etc) insist on just putting the initial on any correspondence. It's a pain!

Corrine is ok, but doesn't really 'go' with Ezra in my mind.

Corinne is ok in a French accent I guess, just force people to pronounce it the French way!

Effie is nasty - sorry. Isn't that what Mrs Doubtfire's name was?

Effie is really dreadful.

Corinne is nice but people are going to have their own ways of pronouncing it.

We were planning on an Ezra, he would have been Ezzie (turned out to be dd!) so no definitely not Ezra and Effie (plus Effie on it's own is really only a bit of a name to me, needs a bit more substance).

Ezra and Ava are way too similar

Ezra and Corrine /Corrine and Ezra I like, both a little bit unusual but otherwise quite different from each other.

Ezra is of course fantastic

To me, Effie as a first name sounds like you're making one up just to be different. If Effie was on my birth certificate, I'd be pretty pissed off once I was old enough to have an opinion on names!

It makes me think of two things: Heffer, as in cow, and "Eff off" as in fuck off! Whose to say when she'd older (in high school) she won't get one of these as a nn?

If my parents gave it to me as a nickname, and I hated, I could opt to not use it, but if it's on your birth certificate, where can you go from there?

Yep Effie and Ezra not good together and Effie needs a Sunday Best version or is a bit 'iffy.'
Corinne is fine, not too dull.

As has been said above, traditionally, Effie is short for 'Euphemia'. It means 'speaking well' but to me the sound You-fee-mee-ah is not very pretty.

There is a Japanese anime character called Euphemia.

Could also be Eleftheria (El-ef-ThER-i-a) which means freedom or Evgenia/Eugenia which means well-born.

well it does get shortened anyway to Effs or Effmeister much as I think any name or nickname can continued to be shortened? And I know various long named folk who don't have nicknames at all (Juliet, Rosemary, Jennifer, Allison...) so depends what you want at the end of the day (and as I say I totally gave my DD what is probably traditionally thought of as a NN everywhere outside of Scotland)

But I agree I wouldn't have alliterative twins
