What name do you like more (or don't like) out of these two and why?

Forgot to say why .... Elise is really pretty. Eliza makes me think of My Fair Lady plus not keen on Liza (potential nn)

CPtart · 01/02/2014 10:11

Elise, much softer sounding. Too many little Eliza's out there now.

Elise is drippy. Also, there was a really whiny girl at school called Elise, who got called 'Elise the disease'.

Eliza is beautiful.

Mrsindecision · 01/02/2014 10:54

I like both. Elise is a softer sounding name to my ear, but I think I prefer Eliza.

CarryOnDancing · 01/02/2014 11:53

I'd go with Eliza for the more classic feel. I wish I'd pushed more for this for DD's name 4 years ago! It has a lot going for it. Elise is pretty but doesn't stand out the same.

Princesspond · 01/02/2014 11:55

I like both, like Elise because of The Cure song - letter to Elise Smile

BlueChampagne · 01/02/2014 23:20

Elise by a country mile IMHO

mathanxiety · 02/02/2014 01:29

Eliza. It's a name that suits any age.

I know a middle aged Elise and it really doesn't fit at all. (imo)

Mrswellyboot · 02/02/2014 02:14

Elise

aGirlDownUnder1 · 02/02/2014 02:27

Elise. It's such a pretty name and Eliza is very popular now

squoosh · 02/02/2014 03:21

Elise.

Eliza sounds very brassy and coarse.

Alisvolatpropiis · 02/02/2014 12:50

Elise without a doubt.

I don't like Eliza at all. The sound isn't attractive to my ears.

minipie · 02/02/2014 18:17

Elise. Much prettier sounding than Eliza.

NoMoreMarbles · 02/02/2014 18:36

I know 2 little girls with those names so my impression on both names is based entirely on that...

Elise is a quiet, quirky little girl who loves flowers and is quite artySmile

Eliza is a pampered princess type girl. Very prone to tantrums and cries to get her own way...Hmm

I prefer EliseGrin

Without the name association I do like Eliza and it was on my name short list for DD although it didn't make the finalsGrin

bluebelle2662 · 02/02/2014 18:40

Much prefer Elise. Also like it because it's my best friend's name

MadameJosephine · 02/02/2014 18:45

Definitively Eliza for me, not keen on Elise.

ellaballoo · 02/02/2014 18:48

Elise. I am a middle aged one,it works for me and I am not washy-washy!

ellaballoo · 02/02/2014 18:52

And it doesn't rhyme with disease.

Alisvolatpropiis · 02/02/2014 19:53

I wondered about that too Ella

I've only heard Elise prn Eh-lease rather than Eh-leez.

newyearhere · 02/02/2014 20:01

Elise is prettier. Eliza sounds harsh.

peppinagiro · 02/02/2014 20:40

How strange! The only Elises I've known have always pronounced it 'Eh-leez'. I didn't realise that Eh-lease was an option. It's much prettier that way.

HeatherCatherine82 · 02/02/2014 21:00

Both are lovely names, and I know a very sweet Elise, but I personally prefer Eliza.

Eliza is stronger and, in my opinion, prettier xx

MizK · 02/02/2014 21:13

Elise is gorgeous, Eliza I am not crazy about.
