dizhin79 · 31/01/2014 15:57

I know 3 merlin's which I think is lovely and 2 bridgets which I also love Grin

Tia

You can't move for tripping over a Felix here Grin

I know a few Cosimas, which to me is an unusual name, which is what I think you mean, op?

Thingymajigs · 31/01/2014 18:17

I'm actually quite relieved. After worrying that naming our baby Felix would be met with a lot of weird looks it seems like he may be one of several in his class like his older brother who has a top 10 name. So it's not weird at all. Smile

AbiRoad · 31/01/2014 18:23

To be a pedant, if there is more than one person with a name it is not unique, as unique means there is only one! But I know what you mean, you mean names that parents gave a child thinking they would be the only one in the class and in fact they are not. Although I dont think your examples of Jasper and Felix are great as I know loads of those - fairly mainstream names in some parts.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 31/01/2014 18:55

Thingy - Felix is a great name, with a lovely meaning Smile

sleepingbeautiful · 31/01/2014 23:58

I also know a few each of Felix, Hugo, Rufus, Oscar, who may have been named thinking the name was a bit different. I suppose they are rarer than James, William, Alexander, Harry but they certainly aren't unusual.
I know two Cormacs and two Tanis' which I think falls into your category of being surprised I know more than one.

Mintyy · 31/01/2014 23:59

Do you understand what unique means?

scottishmummy · 01/02/2014 00:06

Unique, implies there not 3 or so of same name knocking about
Felix, jasper are unique in no way unique

Freckletoes · 01/02/2014 00:14

An unusual (but not unique-so glad everyone has explained!) name we know 2 of is Maxim. Both in same class.

BackforGood · 01/02/2014 00:14

Contradiction in terms - if something is unique, it is the only one

Toucanet · 01/02/2014 01:01

Hmm, think those knowing Felix (Felixes)? & Jaspers may move in better circles than me! But do know 2 each of Casper, Dorothy, Esther and Stella. All straightforwardish but not common. 1 Ashling & 1 Aisling so not quite the same. Lily everywhere though, shame as I like that one!

LadyMetroland · 01/02/2014 01:08

I wish I could say I know two girls called Unique - unfortunately I only know one... (sorry, not helpful)

Babcia · 01/02/2014 21:54

I think OP means "unique", rather than actually unique... Hmm

A teacher friend of mine's first year 1 class had 3 Jadens and 2 Bladens. I used to have a cub scout pack with 3 Reubens, and all three of them were little shits darlings!

tammytoby · 02/02/2014 07:31

All the names here, Max, Oscar, Jasper etc are really popular and not at all unusual or unique!

Look outside the top 1000 for less used names.
