At nearly 24 weeks,we've decided to start thinking about possible names. Not going to make a final decision till she arrives, but we want a list of names we both get on with to work from. What do people think of the below, and do you have any other suggestions?

Verity
Imogen
Alexandra
Bethan
Beatrice
Thea
Clementine
Clara (love this, but OH is concerned about rising popularity due to a certain TV program...)
Veronica
Rosalind
Cora
Rowan (I adore this for a girl, but OH is convinced it is a made up name, a boy's name and will make everyone think of Blackadder)
Arietta/Arriety (Least keen on these)

I like Imogen

OnePlanOnHouzz · 24/01/2014 10:55

Clementine ! So cute !! Gets my vote (although they are all rather lovely !) we know a chap called Rowan ! He's lovely ! So , to me, Rowan is a boys name ! Maybe spelt Roanne ?!?!?

Best wishes to you what ever you choose ! Such an exciting time !!! :-)

MrsApplepants · 24/01/2014 11:07

I like all the names listed apart from Rowan (same reasons as you DH) Veronica (makes me think of veruccas) and Areitta (just don't like it)

aGirlDownUnder1 · 24/01/2014 11:41

I like Clementine and Bethan. DD goes to school with two lovely girls called Clementine and Bethan. I think Rowan is a boys name too, but what about Rowena?

MrsT2007 · 24/01/2014 11:55

I have a good (female) friend called Rowan....the make version sounds more odd to me!

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 24/01/2014 12:14

Rowan is not a made up name any more than those others on your shortlist. I know a boy and a girl Rowan.

Just my current tastes but I like your top five best.

alwaysneedaholiday · 24/01/2014 12:19

I like Imogen , Alexandra, Clara and Beatrice. Also love Lara as an alternative.

NannyPlumForPM · 24/01/2014 12:34

I like Imogen and Clara , love rowan - really dislike verity/ Veronica as they sound a bit masculine to me (could be due to people I know with the name) I love clementine but not too fussed on nn Clem - quite like Cora and not a huge fan of Alexandra but love nn Lexie Grin

NannyPlumForPM · 24/01/2014 12:38

Bethan always reminds me of a big plump girl. Blush

noodlebum · 24/01/2014 13:36

My favourites from your list are:
Imogen
Bethan
Clara
Cora

Smile
dobedobedo · 24/01/2014 14:33

I like Rowan the best!

ShadowFall · 24/01/2014 14:40

I love Verity.

Clementine is a variety of orange.

What TV program is spoiling Clara for your OH? I can't think of any TV programs with a Clara in.

runningandjumping · 24/01/2014 14:41

My favourites are Alexandra and Clementine, also love Beatrice, Clara, dislike all the others (sorry but you've asked!)

ccsays · 24/01/2014 14:44

I had a Rosalind three weeks ago and it's gotten lots of compliments, so that's my favourite Smile. Also love Verity, Clara and Rowan (and have a female friend with this name).

ccsays · 24/01/2014 14:45

ShadowFall Clara is the latest Doctor Who companion.

ShadowFall · 24/01/2014 14:49

Aaah. Doctor Who.

I've now also remembered that Clara was the name of the little girl in the wheelchair in Heidi.

sonlypuppyfat · 24/01/2014 14:55

I know a Verity its a lovely name.

Sundaedelight · 24/01/2014 14:57

LOVE Rosalind and Clementine.

Rosalind is that little bit more unusual. Heard a mother last week calling Verity in the playground and it sounded a little harsh.

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 24/01/2014 15:04

Love Bethan, Clara and Rowan (which is a girl's name to me, but also pronounced Row- to rhyme with How not to rhyme with Low.)

Like Rosalind (love Rosa but don't like Roz as a nickname). Not madly keen on any of the rest.

kally195 · 24/01/2014 16:34

Thank you for all the fab feedback! We've found an interesting website to play with, which will hopefully help us reach consensus on a list. Your comments above are helping me narrow down my list of names for it!

Imogen, Thea and Cora all made it to our short list
