I heard of this name only recently and quite like it (pronounced zar-na)
What do you think?

Love it.

I like it.

To me it sounds like a cross between the names Zara and Sanne.

Rhubarbgarden · 19/01/2014 16:51

Sounds a bit made up.

PerksOfBeingNorthern · 19/01/2014 17:08

I would pronounce Zana as Zay-na and Zahna as Zar-na. I like it (them) though.

Sounds too much like Sahne - the German for cream. In turn, that reminds me of a really cheesy old German pop song by Udo Jürgens, a kind of German Tom Jones, called 'Aber Bitte mit Sahne'.

Maybe just me though.

Agree with Perks, people might say "Zayna" (and nickname Zany) with the Zana spelling. I like Zahna though.

I knew a Zhana growing up. _She was from Yugoslavia (showing my age, there Grin). I think it's a lovely name.

Theres a fashion editor called Zanna, works for Marie Claire. I've always loved her name!

Idespair · 20/01/2014 13:37

It looks made up and I think Zara is nicer.

newyearhere · 20/01/2014 14:39

I'm guessing Zanna is derived from (or short for) Suzanna.

badtime · 20/01/2014 20:16

I thought of German cream too.

MissWimpyDimple · 20/01/2014 20:21

Yup. German cream!

Alisvolatpropiis · 20/01/2014 20:23

I think Zahna would be more likely to get the pronunciation you want.
