Your thoughts on the name Harley??

We have a baby boy due in weeks and we haven't got a name picked! Did love Finlay but it's so common... And liked Khylan/Kylan but would be annoying correcting it all his life. What's your thoughts on Harley? Or any other unusual names you can give me??

Harley is a motorbike - does that image fit what you are aiming for?

Other names not in frequent use now: Roy, Neil, Nigel, Jeremy, Ptolemy, Aethelstan, Auberon

Motorbike or chihuahua.

curlew · 17/01/2014 06:52

And I only know two Finns, both of them grown ups.

Ilovekittyelise · 17/01/2014 07:29

Harley sounds a bit dated to me. Like something Mick Jaggered might have used for his child way back in the mists of time.
The k name is bad. Finlay is nice, but overused, as you say.

ComposHat · 17/01/2014 07:37

Harley sounds naff. Like the hero in a Danielle Steele novel.

The K names aren't my cup of tea either, they sound like someone Flash Gordon would do battle with.

John?

Meglet · 17/01/2014 07:39

Sorry, I don't like it.

BunnyLebowski · 17/01/2014 07:41

Finlay, despite it's popularity, is a million miles better than the other two.

Harley is awful. A real trailer park name.

Khylan sounds completely made up and like a 4th tier boy band member.

HectorVector · 17/01/2014 07:42

Sorry I don't like it.
It makes me think motorbike or Staffordshire bull terrier.

Ruprekt · 17/01/2014 07:44

Most K names for boys are hideous imvvvho! Grin

Harley is vile. Confused

Finlay is nice.

How about

Elliott
Cooper
Logan
Harrison

Jackson

TheBigBumTheory · 17/01/2014 07:45

Arthur? Is has some of the same sounds as Harvey, but it's more classic.

FetchezLaVache · 17/01/2014 07:45

I really don't like Harley or the K names, I'm afraid. Finlay's OK.

SqutterNutBaush · 17/01/2014 07:48

There are 2 Harley's at DS' school, both girls.

I know lots of Finlay's but only one actually gets called their whole name, I know a Finnan too.

I'm not keen on Khylan (i assume pronounced like Rhylan?).

rubyflipper · 17/01/2014 07:48

I'm not going to say why I don't like the name Harley - but I wouldn't use it at all.

I don't like Harley much and more importantly the Harleys I know are girls. I like Finlay and only know 1.

Charotte31 · 17/01/2014 07:53

Harley is awful- sorry!

NearTheWindmill · 17/01/2014 07:53

I agree with everyone else. Conrad? Elliott? Magnus? Are all a bit less traditional. Or on another level: Merlin, Gawain

scottishmummy · 17/01/2014 07:55

Harley is a pets name
If you don't want to be stuck emphasising spelling pronunciation not khylan, kylan

SS3J · 17/01/2014 07:56

How about
Rylan
Huxley
Ashley
Linley
Kai

Janorisa · 17/01/2014 07:59

I like Conrad....

Stat · 17/01/2014 08:10

I like Harley, but it's not that unusual, if something unusual is what you are looking for (it was in the top 50 boys names last year).

I also don't mind the sound of Kylan, but it looks totally "made-up" to me, so that puts me off.

I'm not keen in Finlay, it seems very trendy at the moment.

How about...

Layton
Oakley
Hadley
Declan
Reuben
Bailey
Corey

sebsmummy1 · 17/01/2014 08:13

Heath is lovely!!

Not so keen on Harley, sorry.

Theonlyoneiknow · 17/01/2014 08:19

What about Harvey instead of Harley?
