Simon with surname similar to Cowell - do it or not?

We have a 12-day-old DS who needs a name. We love the name Simon, and it would have been our 6yo DD's name if she'd been a boy. Our surname is Poel (pronounced pole). My question for MNers is whether 'Simon Poel' automatically makes you think of Simon Cowell? I don't have any strong feelings re SC, and I'm thinking he may well be out of the spotlight by the time DS and his peers are old enough to have opinions about names. What do you think?

Great, thank you! We've been telling people his name is almost certainly Simon, and no one has mentioned Simon Cowell, but I started to worry that they're just being polite, so it's great to get some objective opinions. Smile

I think it's fine. Simon isn't a common name nowadays, a good choice. Congratulations.
