I would say Leda as Layda. Or how about Vita? Said Veeta?

akachan · 15/01/2014 12:54

Made me think of the Rig Veda rather than Darth!

Ja9 · 16/01/2014 11:39

A NI pg woman here now desperately craving a hunk of Veda with lashings of butter...!

UriGeller · 16/01/2014 11:42

Like Ada with a V?

MyNameIsWinkly · 16/01/2014 11:44

Is Veda not a bread in England then? 14 years here and still learning. In NI it would be a bit like calling your baby Ciabatta.

whatsagoodusername · 16/01/2014 11:54

I immediately thought of My Girl.

youbethemummylion · 16/01/2014 15:25

Nope Veda is not a bread in England but its spelt Vada and pronounced Vayda not Veeda if that makes a difference, how do you pronounce the bread?

BlueBirdy · 16/01/2014 16:01

I've also loved the name since My Girl, but don't think I'd have the guts to use it (not that DH would ever agree). Ada is a good alternative, and the little girl was played by an 'Anna' which is a lovely name. People may only think of 'Darth' when they first meet her, after that I'm sure they'll attach it to her as a person, so if you (and your DH) really love it, go for it!

MyNameIsKenAdams · 16/01/2014 16:04

I do like Ada - it isnt a name I had ever thought of, and it has a little 'old lady' feel to it, like DDs name.

Anna is a classic - however our surname is Can........
So she would be Anna Can...... Grin

Complete nostalgia here - reminded me of Vada Sultenfuss from the film My Girl

Of course, I thought about Darth, too - but that was secondary.

MyNameIsKenAdams · 16/01/2014 16:08

I also like that if she ever asked about her name I can show her My Girl and its a good reason!

I must add, seeing the In Laws faces when we tell them the name is an added bonus. Aoife is on the list mainly as I adore it but also comedy value at the ILs attempting to pronounce it.

Im not Irish _ hence why I didnt know about the bread
