I like Perdy but I don't like Penelope.

Oriunda · 12/01/2014 19:57

Penelope over Perdy
Perdita is a lovely name though.

Well I love Perdy , but don't like Penelope Smile

I have come across a couple of baby Pennys and like it better.

But what about Parley? Gorgeous name, quite similar.

Penelope is very tricky in non-Anglophone countries (apart from Greece, obvs). A mate called Penelope went to work in Shanghai and absolutely nobody had a clue. Nice name if you stick to UK/US/Australia though.

Thanks for all your (brutally honest in some cases) replies.

I love Penelope (nn. Penny or nellie).

Perdy was a friends suggestion which I like as a petname but not a full name! Thought I'd put it to the vote.

Penelope.

Perdy sounds like pervy to me! Penny is sweet though.

TravellingToad · 12/01/2014 22:38

What the HELL is "Perdy"??

thecatfromjapan · 12/01/2014 22:39

I like Perdita: is it the one where she steps out of the box? I think I saw it in an idyllic setting years ago. I'm guessing that "Purdy" would have been a familiar shortening of Perdita in The Avengers.

I like Penelope, too - I knew a Penelope in Greece: there's something great about the fact that all those mythic names are still used in Greece. Yes, I know it's obvious but I still like it.

I think I like Perdita best but it sounds as though your not completely sold on either, to be honest, OP. Smile Bet you end up calling smll one something completely different!
