Hi,
Running out of ideas, and really could do with some much needed help!

We want a unique name without it being silly.

Names for boys we like:

Jude

Rafferty - love this but our surname also starts with, 'R'. May clash?.

Felix - Love this but will he get teased on the 'cat food' thing?

Fraser

Tobias

Gabriel

Sebastian

Spencer - maybe.

Names for girls:

Fleur

Florence

Betsy

Nancy

Any similar names anyone?

I am thinking more than 1 syllable really as our surname is only 1 syllable.

Also any feedback on names we have?

Many thanks

H

Like Felix, Gabriel and Nancy from your list, although they're all reasonably well-used. How about Romy, Elsa, Eudora, Tabitha for girls or Julian, Anton, Nathaniel, Dominic for boys?

mamachelle · 08/01/2014 21:52

I really like your boys names. Jude is my favourite from your list.

How about- elsie, josie, ingrid, verity?

rockybalboa · 08/01/2014 21:55

I can't believe how similar your list is to ours! I would add Barnaby to your boys list.

sleepingbeautiful · 08/01/2014 22:05

I like all of your names except Fleur, which makes me think 'bleurgh'.
I love Jude and Fraser but if you have one syllable surname then Fraser wins.
Girls either Florence or Betsy.
Suggestions:
Douglas, Benedict, Austin
Margaret (Meg, Molly, Peggy, Daisy), Felicity, Dorothea (Dottie, Dolly, Dora)

Thanks for all the replies all.

Tabitha is v nice, will put that one forward.

Julian has also been discussed, hubby likes it.

Hubby's reaction to Fleur was, 'sounds like something id say when im pi**ed'!
So can omit that one!

Any thoughts on 'Cosima' for a girl anyone?
Only heard it today and liked it instantly.

Also like 'Tate' for a boy, but again, don't think it go's with a one syllable surname.

Any other suggestions would be great.

Thanks

H

We also have a one syllable surname & I agree you need a longer first name. Fraser & Gabriel are both on my list for dc2 and we have the same criteria of "heard of but not popular". Here's some other suggestions...
Nicholas
Everett
Emmett
Jeremy

Annaliese
Lois
Frieda (Marmite name!)
Hazel
Coraline (or Caroline)
Elena (Alaina)
Ivy
Naomi
Natalie
Nicola/Nicole
Maria

Most of you choices are nice. I like fairly traditional or biblical names.

Also from a teacher's point of view, ones that are easy to spell!

I like Emily, Tobias, Barnaby, Eloise, Elias

More boys suggestions...
Dougan
Rupert
Ephraim
Lincoln

Bugger, I posted too soon then! Meant to add Phoebus to the boys list. My DH looks at me like I've lost my mind whenever i suggest it. And yet he comes up with Errol!

BlueChampagne · 10/01/2014 16:49

Wreford for a boy; Vashti for a girl.
