A spreadsheet of every baby name in the UK??

I'm sure the ONS once released a list of every baby name given to a child in the UK, as long as more than 3 babies were named it. I can't find it now - does anyone know it?

Like a way to see how popular a name is that isn't in the top 100.

You can find all the info here: www.ons.gov.uk/ons/search/index.html?newquery=baby+names

Though you may have to work your way through the excel tabs to find the bit you want.

Thanks - I've looked through that but can only find top 100 spreadsheets.

It is findable on that link, but hidden under the bit called "reference" and then it's on about the 6th tab of the spreadsheet.

here

and here

Thank you! That 6th tab has it, but is still called top 100!

I don't know of anywhere you can get the whole of the UK collated, but links for separate tables for Scotland and for Northern Ireland here

www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/statistics/theme/vital-events/births/popular-names/index.html

as well as the England and Wales ones.

CaptainSinker · 11/01/2014 17:02

The Scottish one gives all names, even unique ones.

What's interesting is that I've seen countless times on here people suggesting Ptolemy, yet only 3 were born. Hmmmm. I wonder what all those would be Ptolemy's got called instead?'

HoneyandRum · 11/01/2014 23:59

Ptolemy is how to shout "I am pretentious!" from the rooftops. So most of them came to their senses I imagine.
