If I like Sebastian, Rafferty and Barnaby what else might I like?

We have a Madeleine and a Theodore (nn Teddy).

Do you think Seb / Sebbie is a bit too close to Teddy?

Our surname starts with a b and rhymes with cherry so I'm not 100% on the alliteration of Barnaby?

Are they all a bit "posh toff" sounding? Particularly Sebastian and Rafferty. They all seem to be quite marmite names, I wanted something safer as we ruffled enough feathers with Theodore! Though I really love them all and it's so rare that dh and I like ANY of the same names! He only likes long flowy names, I like both!

HEEELLLP! What do you think of those and What else might I like?

I like your taste in names too though would avoid Sebbie with Teddy (too similar) and don't like alliteration so would rule out Barnaby. Rafferty is good though.

I think Teddy and Sebbie together and with your surname sounds a bit, errrmmm, twee at best.

principalitygirl · 08/01/2014 13:14

Abraham (Abe)
Jago
Oscar

Most do sound v posh though, especially Rafferty, but Teddie and Sebastian less so.

principalitygirl · 08/01/2014 13:16

Xavier?
I'd second Nathaniel (Nate)

I personally would not go for Cosmo. Makes me think of the magazine and a cocktail!

principalitygirl · 08/01/2014 13:17

I love the name Seth btw.

Also, what about Gabriel?

I love your names!! All three were on my list. DH refused rafferty which was my absolute favourite.. Sebastian I was out off in end by someone I knew..
Anyway ended up with a Hugo..totally different to all the long flowy names I thought I wanted but perfect anyway! I see you discounted it but fwiw I have a good friend also with a Hugo so they are Hugo one and Hugo two Grin

principalitygirl · 08/01/2014 16:15

Hugo is nice too, as is Zachary (mentioned a few posts ago)...

Lottystar · 08/01/2014 16:26

I have a Gabriel and Sebastian, love your taste in names too! I think you'd be fine with a Sebastian with Teddy. It's only whilst they're young you will likely add the ie sound at the end anyway.

A few other ideas:

Raphael
Percival (Percy)
Benedict
Fabian
Otto
Rupert
Milo
Leander
Montgomery
Jude

Thanks all :)

Will reply properly later but lots of good suggestions. My worry is that sebbie does sound a bit similar to teddy.. And that is probably my favourite right now :(

Dh thinks the other Dcs names are long so we need a long one to match! Don't know what I think about that one!

I love rupert but dh has vetoed.

Dh and I both like Abraham (especially with the shortening to bram - that's super cute!) but it seems like a big long name for a little boy IYSWIM? I know he won't be little always... Do you think it's a bit biblical?

Also both like quentin - posh again though? What would you shorten quentin too?

Dh likes Raphael - I'm not sure... Also likes monty but i don't like any of the long versions Montgomery etc..

There are lots of others I like but DH has vetoed them ALL!!! I really don't think we can use Hugo. I would love to, but we see them a lot. They will only be 3 months apart to.

Abraham is a great name and Bram is a lovely nickname. Don't think it's more biblical than Gabriel or Joseph.

Also like the suggestion of Linus.

We have a Quentin and are definitely not posh! Still love his name and nicknames include Quinn or Quenny.

TooTryHard · 10/01/2014 05:10

Our choices are very like mine. How about Kit/ Christian/ Christopher?

gruffalosfriend · 10/01/2014 14:19

I love Rafferty, Quentin and Tobias from the suggestions and think they go well with Madeleine and Theodore/Teddy.

Sebastian is ok but Seb/Sebby reminds me of oily skin (sebacious) and doesn't sound very strong/masculine. Barnaby or Barney sounds like a pet or plush toy to my ears.

Tranquilitybaby · 26/01/2014 23:48

I love the name Rafferty!

mewkins · 27/01/2014 19:50

I knew an Eddison. I rather like it.

BlessedAssurance · 29/01/2014 16:34

Any name that appears in the bible is biblical, that being the case Abraham is less popular than the other ones, like Joshua and David
