Has anyone heard of this girl's name before - Mazella (pronounced Myella)

Have been flicking through my late mum's work on our family tree & came across the name Mazella used as a girl's middle name in 1848. In my mum's handwriting there a note next to it saying its pronounced Myella.

Searched for it on a baby name website & its Hebrew meaning lucky.

Has anyone heard of this name, is it suitable for a middle name for a baby girl nowadays & are there any connotations that I should be aware of before I use it? I've only heard of it in this instance, it doesn't appear anywhere else in the family tree & never heard it used in real life :)

Any name is suitable for a middle name if you like it :-)

I think it's a really nice first name too

Isn't Myella the girl who accuses Tom Robinson of raping her in To Kill a Mockingbird?

Thanks titchy its quite close, the girl in TKaM is Mayella....

I'd forgotten that.

I think it's very pretty and lovely that it would link back to family history. I think pretty much whatever you like can be used as a middle name (my middle name is the name of a band...and it isn't a band with a proper human name or anything...like being called X Beatles, for example) and I think Mazella would go with a lot of first names to.

That's an interesting family history link but I'm afraid the first thing that came to my mind was cooking oil Sad
