So we need a shortlist for the impending arrival of ds2 and I could do with some impartial feedback on the list so far or other suggestions.

Our surname isn't massively unusual but often needs spelling out (especially on the phone!) so a first name that isn't hard to spell is fairly crucial.

Our list so far is:
Elijah
Ethan
Tristan (not sure if it's a bit public schoolish)
Patrick
Jonah (really like this but is only one letter different from ds1 so worried it looks a bit like we couldn't be bothered to try!)
Wilfred
Seth
Saul

Names we like but can't use for various reasons include:
Michael
James
Benjamin
Timothy
Jacob
Isaac
Samuel
Toby

I like both your lists (sorry, no help). Smile Good luck.

DitsyDonkey · 29/12/2013 18:27

I love Wilfred especially the shortening Wilf! I really like Jonah but if it is very similar to your other ds then I guess it may be odd especially if it is Jonas (just guessing)

colleysxmasmillofcheer · 29/12/2013 18:31

Ds 1 is Noah so still close to Jonah.

Jonas reminds dh of the jonas brothers so he has vetoed that!

I don't like Tristan or Wilfred but like the others especially Jonah and Elijah. Is othrr ds Noah? Bit samey with Jonah. Both are on our list! What about Oscar?

HowAboutNo · 29/12/2013 18:33

Ethan is lovely! I always picture a really handsome man when I hear Ethan.

MoonHare · 29/12/2013 18:36

Elijah - would probably give 'over the phone' spelling problems, which you say you want to avoid
Ethan - OK, I prefer it to Elijah
Tristan - I like this too but also feel it's a bit public schoolish
Patrick - Like it
Jonah - I wouldn't based on what you've said
Wilfred -No
Seth - Yes, yes, yes to this one
Saul - Not sure, makes me think of nasty pre-Damascus biblical Saul but not everyone would think that

colleysxmasmillofcheer · 29/12/2013 18:36

In some ways I'm glad I posted because so far my fears about Jonah have been confirmed (better now than a few years down the line!) Much as I like it as a name I think its a no go.

I like Oscar, dh isn't keen sadly

Thank you for all the replies. I used to think picking names would be so easy!

Tristan - LOVE, but really dislike Ethan, which makes me think of a thug
(for no good reason)
Seth/Saul LOVE
Wilfred/Patrick - very nice.
Jonah- not if that close to DS1's name.

Or....
Benjamin
Benedict
Peter
Rupert
Edward
Walter

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/12/2013 19:54

LOVE Tristan and Wilfred.

Dislike Ethan, Jonah and Saul.
Really, really hate Seth, sorry. It is the name I dislike more than any other.

curiousgeorgie · 29/12/2013 19:55

I love Seth! Seth & Noah sounds nice Smile

Misfitless · 29/12/2013 20:12

Seth and Saul - brilliant names, but not keen on any of the others.

colleysxmasmillofcheer · 29/12/2013 20:24

Atleast no-one has said hate them all yet!

Ds tonight announced he wants to call the baby Yoda Grin

Oh I love your names except for Patrick and Seth and not overly keen on Jonah. Most of the other names were on my list. My favourite is Saul but I had a beautiful little girl in the end. Fab names though!

Misfitless · 30/12/2013 06:41

I forgot to say that I like Patrick, too Smile

BikeRunSki · 30/12/2013 06:46

Exactly what moonHare said.

I have a nephew called Jonah. He is always getting called
Noah, so if you already have one I'd leave Jonah (cool name though).

Eli?
