Thoughts on these names for boys

I am 30 weeks pregnant and don't know the sex. We have chosen a name for a girl but we are struggling a bit with boys. We created a list last night, what are your thoughts? Any other suggestions? We might also consider an Italian name that works well in English (we have Italian family links). I am also quite keen on names that work well across Europe but don't sound too feminine.
List so far:
Felix (has been the front-runner but DH possibly going off it)
Crispin
Julian (love nn Jules/Jools, not sure about Julian)
Antonio
Rowan (possible middle name, maybe too feminine as a first name?)
Oscar (a bit too popular for my liking I think, possible middle name)
Toby (not keen on Tobias though)
Laurence
Rufus

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I rather like them, but also not keen on Julian. Julius?
Toby can just be Toby, or Tobin.
I think Felix is my favorite, but it is quite popular.

Matteo?
Milo?
Miles?
Adam?
Evan?

Rufus

Allalonenow · 23/12/2013 07:29

From your list I like Rufus Felix and Crispin best.

Confitdecanard · 23/12/2013 07:35

I like Matteo bike but DH not keen. One of your other suggestions is DS's name.

My favourites from your list are Rufus, Lawrence and Rowan, in that order.

Lebkuchenlover · 23/12/2013 07:47

Love them all with the exception of Felix (cat food) and Laurence (feminine form of Laurent).

Lebkuchenlover · 23/12/2013 07:49

Lawrence is a better spelling for boy.

Confitdecanard · 23/12/2013 07:50

That's my worry with Laurence as well lebkuchen. My French friends would be a bit Xmas Hmm I think.

Lawrence nn Laurie would be lovely. Also like Felix and Rowan. I don't think Rowan is too feminine - I hate the way parents appropriate boys names for girls. There are already enough girls names!

Confitdecanard · 23/12/2013 08:44

Thanks all. I agree beachball - not enough boys names to go round! I heard a Mum calling her DD Rowan at the park the other day and it put me off a bit.

Felix, Laurence and Rufus stand out and are lovely, really not a fan of the others.
Italians I know are
Angelo
Lorenzo
Raphael
Alessandro

BikeRunSki · 23/12/2013 09:10

I know a boy and a girl called Rowan ( one of each) and Rohan (one of each). All pronounce it the same "Ro Anne". It is a lovely name for either gender.

Mellowandfruitful · 23/12/2013 09:16

I really like Laurence and Julian.

soontobeslendergirl · 23/12/2013 09:47

Luca/Lucas?
Dominic
Marc

skolastica · 23/12/2013 10:52

Dominic
Nicholas/Nico
Anthony
Orlando (nearly called my son this, but thought Lawrence was safer in Scotland)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/12/2013 10:54

LOVE Rowan - dd2 would have been it, had she been ds.
LOVE Laurence - dd1 would have been it, had she been ds!
Love Oscar and Julian.
Hate Felix and Crispin, sorry.

Confitdecanard · 23/12/2013 11:04

Thanks for all the input. I think Crispin is probably off the list. Most likely choices are Felix, Rowan or Lawrence. Orlando is a bit Mr Bloom (not the gardener!). Considered Leonardo (Leo) but I think Leo is a bit too popular for me.

Lebkuchenlover · 23/12/2013 13:38

Leo and Felix are quite 'trendy'.

But Lawrence and Raphael are great, or how about Quentin (ds's name)?

HyvaPaiva · 23/12/2013 13:47

I say Felix, my DP says Rowan.

Hope our indecision helps Grin

Confitdecanard · 23/12/2013 15:35

Thanks everyone. I think Lawrence might be the new front-runner, middle name quite possibly Rowan.

I also love Cosmo but when I mention it in real life people choke on their drinks!

MrsPatMustard · 27/12/2013 19:08

Tibby2 · 29/12/2013 21:14
