Is it irredeemable?

The newest baby I know is called Hilda.

Saxie · 10/12/2013 20:22

I love it. It's my Granny's name but she is known as Hilly as she hates it.

DramaAlpaca · 10/12/2013 20:24

I hate it, but then I don't like any of the "old lady" names that have been revived recently.

Dreadful name

2gorgeousboys · 10/12/2013 21:36

It's my Granny's name too, she also goes by the nickname Tilly.

TalkativeJim · 11/12/2013 15:31

Prefer Hildur.

But maybe you'd have to be Icelandic.

ohtanmybum · 11/12/2013 15:56

My wonderful Mum's name, so it represents everything she was to me - loving, generous, unselfish, kind, thoughtful, fun-loving, determined, resilient, and she had a beautiful singing voice. She was Hildy to her parents.

squoosh · 11/12/2013 17:23

Hilda is a really bad choice.

Really bad.

Frontdoorstep · 11/12/2013 18:14

It has an image of being old fashioned, that's ok though, it's easy to say and spell and people can identify with it as a name.

It's quite nice really, go for it.

MatildaWhispers · 12/12/2013 00:28

Really really dislike Hilda, although I love Matilda and the nickname Tilda. Hilda sounds so much more old fashioned to me.

rosebudandvodka · 12/12/2013 14:46

Fugly.

orangepudding · 12/12/2013 14:47

I like it.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 12/12/2013 15:08

I'd never dream of using it and was going to say it was a foul name but actually, if you look at it and sound it out a few times it's actually quite nice. Not sure you could get over the Ogden/rollers thing but nicer than you would think.

puntasticusername · 12/12/2013 23:24

Absolutely love it. Was the name of a treasured aunt, though, so will always have mainly positive associations for me.

telsa · 13/12/2013 12:15

I know a Hildi - Finnish name - that is very nice. Hilda is not bad in itself, but I do think of Margaret Hilda Thatcher - whom I cannot abide!

CranberrySaucyJack · 13/12/2013 12:46

Please don't do it. It's a terrible name.

JanePurdy · 13/12/2013 13:23

Hildi is good & doesn't have the connotations of elderly whiskery aunts... But fear not, haterz, I am not pregnant & DP hates it too! I still love it though.
