Or, what are the names of some of those who have been the most important in your life, in a good way.

Inspired by the 'people who have put you off names' thread on here.

William as was DF's name. I always warm to someone called that.

Elsie & Josie (both wonderful old ladies I know)
Both were on our list for DD but she just didn't suit them.

Lots inspired by lovely children I know too; Grace, Archie, Ella, Jack.

I've never met a Logan or an Owen I didn't like.

GimmeDaBoobehz · 05/12/2013 20:31

Lovely to hear about someone getting on with a Jack. Apparently they are naughty children. :o

Tamsin. Self-reliant, brave, intelligent.

MortifiedAnyFuckerAdams · 05/12/2013 20:38

Travis and Jesse, two unrelated marvellous young men.

Ember - interesting, cool and fun.

mammmamia · 05/12/2013 20:46

Genevieve, lovely daughter of our old neighbours. Beautiful and bright.

hawkmcqueen · 05/12/2013 20:51

Fabiola, an old friend who was so beautiful inside and out but who was also always tinged with sadness. It makes the name quite dramatic.

Bluestocking · 05/12/2013 20:55

Clare/Claire. They're lovely!

WhiteHairReally · 05/12/2013 21:13

Ursula, a wise, much admired former colleague.

Kate, the little girl who was a year older than me and had a very nice mummy.

Frances, a much loved elderly relative, who actually loathed the name and was never called it, but as a little girl I was impressed that she even had an elegant name that she choose not to use.

ChristmasJumperWearer · 05/12/2013 21:20

I've known more than one lovely Zoe, Vanessa, Jennifer, Karen, Claire, Rebecca and Jessica. None of those names quite suited DD though.

Also know some quite mad fab Richards and Davids but the idea of naming DS after all of them was a step too far!

Martha. I went to college with a Martha and she was really cool and funny. I would have loved to have had the opportunity to use that name. (Three boys here.)

Jiltedjohnsjulie · 05/12/2013 21:36

Cecilly. Very strong and kind old lady, lived through 2 world wars and insisted I must see the world before I was 21 as my chances for independent travel would diminish once babies were here.

Lucy. Close friend.

Josephine. My DMs bf. Crackers but in a good way Smile

UriGeller · 05/12/2013 21:40

Nancy. A beautiful, bright, adventurous girl. She also has very cool, wealthy hippyish parents.

ZingSweetPea · 05/12/2013 21:40

Antonia.
she was my after school club teacher for a year when I was 10 and thaught me to do cross stitch, fabric dying (wax and tie techniques), make pictures by glueing grains and she took us to museums with her cool husband who became like an uncle to us.

We loved them both, they were so inspirational and never treated us as "silly kids".
I cried tons when she left the school and I still miss not having her in my life.

I have never known another Antonia. she was amazing.

I once worked with a Tabitha when I was younger who was clever, ambitious, really lovely and a very positive role model. I wanted to be just like her.

I also had a big crush on someone called Barney who was handsome, clever, kind, funny and in my eyes faultless (!) I still have a soft spot for the name (despite the associations with a big purple dinosaur)

GimmeDaBoobehz · 06/12/2013 11:31

Some real lovely people here, lovely to hear. :)

Chauncey, a very funny, intelligent, outgoing nun DH and I knew in America. We always thought we would use it when we had another girl but it was not to be. I'm sure there are many on MN who would be very snobby about it but quite honestly I couldn't give a fiddlers fart.

Sunflower49 · 06/12/2013 12:16

Catherine/Kitty. My Grandmother's name and now my nieces' :)
