DP and I are expecting twins next year. We don't know the gender yet but we know they are identical. Our last name is Be tt s.
For girls we like Serenity Claire and Meredith Octavia.
For boys we like Gabriel Angelos and Wilhelm Octavian.
Octavia/n is a family name.

I didn't give either of my children middle names, can't see the point unless you are giving the child the same first name as another family member.

I like Meredith. All names get shortened whether you like it or not and Merry springs to mind, which I like.

Serenity, I am not so keen on, as it reminds me of a character from Neighbours, I think her name got shortened to Wren. I also think it sounds a bit Methodist, like the names Chastity etc.

I like a Gabriel. Wilhelm, I don't like as an English/British name but excellent as a Germanic name.

Congratulations, hope they are both healthy, whatever names you choose.

IsabellaRockerfeller · 02/12/2013 22:09

Congratulations!

I like Meredith and Gabriel plus all the middle names.

I'm afraid I don't like Serenity at all. And Wilhelm is so very German, I think it would only work on a German boy IYSWIM?

HyvaPaiva · 02/12/2013 22:15

I love Meredith Octavia. I'm afraid that all the rest, I really dislike. Sorry OP!

comemulledwinewithmoi · 02/12/2013 22:16

I don't like any if them really. Sorry.

bundaberg · 02/12/2013 22:18

i like all of them :)

esp Meredith and Gabriel

DreamingOfAFullNightsSleep · 02/12/2013 22:18

I have to say i agree with the Wilhelm comments. I also immediately think of Kaiser Wilhelm and WW1.

Love Meredith, I wouldn't choose Serenity but don't dislike it, really really like Gabriel.

Ruprekt · 02/12/2013 22:19

Truthfully, they are a bit of a mouthful. Smile

Serenity, Meredith....not easy to say.

For twins I would prefer opposite types of names rather than similar sounding names such as

Romilly and Bea.

Rory and Theo

I only like Gabriel but I do really really like it. Meredith is ok but I don't like your other 2 names at all sorry. How about Seren or Serena instead?

BettyMacdonald · 02/12/2013 22:32

I LOVE Serenity, in fact I know one, she's lovely but in no way serene Grin. I like the others too, but not crazy about Wilhelm, it just sounds a little harsh IMO. Envy of your twins! Congratulations GrinFlowers

MissPlumBroughtALadder · 02/12/2013 22:35

Serry and Merry bother you?

Artandco · 02/12/2013 22:38

Seren and meridith sound better IMO .

Middle names fine and boys nice

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/12/2013 19:25

Sorry but not keen. Love Claire and Meredith and Gabriel. Hate Angelos, Wilhelm and Octavia/n, sorry.

sykadelic15 · 03/12/2013 19:49

I like the name Serenity but it reminds me of the movie :) Good movie though.

Wilhelm is a strong German name. I'm trying to imagine that name on say, a 15 y/o boy and think he'd probably cop a bit of flack. As a man in his 20's same thing.

Gabriel I don't like as a boys name. I know another kid with that name and all I think is "Gabrielle". It's one of the names that when people call at work and I take messages for certain people, I have to write "female" or "male" next to the names so they know who called. Also reminds me of the Arch Angel Gabriel... esp with a middle name Angelo!

OctaviA I like, not OctaviAN.

Also looking at initials you've got MOB and GAB. Perhaps a middle name with a consonant instead of a vowel, especially with B as a last initial.

Names are hard! I really like a name that gives the initials LEO... for a girl! Still not 100% about that.

mathanxiety · 04/12/2013 06:01

I don't like Serenity or Meredith.

Serenity is the name of incontinence pads. Also, Serenity Claire sounds as if there's an eclaire in there somewhere.

Meredith sounds harsh to my ear. I don't think it flows well with the surname.

I like Claire (and Clara) and Octavia is nice as a MN.

I like the boys' names a lot. I wouldn't find the 'Germanness' of Wilhelm offputting at all. Each has its own style, which is nice for identical twins as it avoids being too matchy. I like the MNs too.

Jenijena · 04/12/2013 06:35

Would you say it Vil-helm or Wil-helm?

Cutteduppumpkin · 04/12/2013 06:40

I like Gabriel, but not with Angelos as a middle name. Not keen on Wilhelm, ilike both the girls names.

buttercrumble · 04/12/2013 06:42

Love them apart from Wilhelm , what's wrong with good old William Smile

JingleMyBells · 04/12/2013 06:44

Don't really like any ok them. I particularly dislike Wilheim, why not William? Much nicer IMO.

Nice

Spaghettinetti · 04/12/2013 09:17

Mmmm...interesting...I'd probably go for Serenity Octavia Be//tts and Gabriel (something...though not necessarily Angelos). Serenity and Gabriel go really nicely together and are almost 'angelic'. Plus you can get good nicknames from
both.

ToffeeJungle · 04/12/2013 11:13

I love Gabriel, like Meredith, Wilhelm is ok but prefer William, Willam or Wilf, not keen on Serenity though Serena is ok and Seren is pretty.

hatsybatsy · 04/12/2013 12:58

did no one spot that Gabriel Angelos is not a good idea? The angel Gabriel and all that??

I like Gabriel and Meredith, the other 2 I'm not keen on - Serenity is quite a mouthful. Imagine yourself shouting "Serenity" down the supermarket aisle when you're feeling less than serene? And WIlhelm? I wouldn't unless I had Germanic relatives. If you like the "vi" sound at the beginning, how about Vincent?

DuPanettoneDuVinDuFromage · 04/12/2013 13:05

I like all of those BUT there is a haulage company called Willi Betz - we used to play a game spotting them on coach trips when I was at school. A bit too close to your name possibly?

Spaghettinetti · 04/12/2013 13:19

Mmm...the bit about them being 'identical' must have slipped my mind, when I wrote my post... How about Gabriella as another girl's name?
