Actually nuts.
I have severe preggo rage towards him the now.

He has two names that he likes. Nathan and Emily. That's it. Two names that I wouldn't have considered.

We were planning on Benjamin for a boy. I thought it was set in stone until along comes Nathan. Now he is pushing it.
We also had a list of girls names.
Rosa
Marlene
Helena
I can't even remember what else but Emily wasn't on it. Anywhere.
Suddenly while walking the dogs on Sunday he's like pushing Emily bringing our 4 year old dd into the conversation (she has 2 friends called Emily and loves the idea of naming the baby after her friend - it was fraya, Harvey, alesio, Lucy before).
Anyway that made me rage.

I'm hormonal I admit, I also need name inspiration. Confused

We have a Noah & a Josie Catherine at home already.

Help?

Make non-committal noises until the baby is actually born, then thrash it out?

PrammyMammy · 26/11/2013 22:26

That's 3 or more weeks worth of noises. I'd break before then.

I love Nathan! (probably not helpful I know!)
Not sure it goes wih your other DC's names though.
Emily does and is quite nice.
Prefer Rosa though, and Helena is pretty.

Maybe you need to sit down and discuss names again as if from scratch - both list your top 5 boy / girls names and take it from there?

Other suggestions:
Ethan
Theo
Elijah
Samuel
Xavier
Alex

Louisa
Anna
Lilian
Megan
Harriet
Olivia

Nathan and Noah would get their post mixed up...

I'd rage at bringing your DD into it before it was 100% decided too!

mathanxiety · 27/11/2013 03:54

Neither Nathan nor Emily are good ideas.

Nathan because of the N initial, and Emily because your DD is friends with two of them, and also because she is very likely to end up falling out with both of them.

Stick with the names you had picked out. Cry if he keeps up the pressure, and get shouty if he tries to bring DD into the conversation. That is not one bit nice or fair.

Men have hormones too, you know.

Benjamin is a lovely name, as are Rosa, Marlene and Helena. If you had agreed on them then tell him you are not listening to any more discussion, and walk off with your fingers in your ears or get up and leave the room, or go back to the car (you get the gist) if he tries to open up the conversation again.

mathanxiety · 27/11/2013 03:55

As a compromise you could use Nathan or Emily as a middle name?

MummyBeerest · 27/11/2013 05:00

Start suggesting the craziest names you can think of. Aloysius, Hoyt, Gary...whatever.

Then say, "Or, you know, Ben."

Then he'll come around.

PrammyMammy · 27/11/2013 13:15

Agh I like your style Mummy! I haven't even brought it up today but next time I'll have a list of outrageous names lined up for him. :D
If that fails the fingers are going in the ears.

Ignore till after the birth. Whilst he is taking care of the other 2DC and you are in hospital, he will not care about the name and you will get your way.

Lancelottie · 27/11/2013 13:21

I like all of those, but not many of them with your current two. Don't do Rosa and Josie unless you are prepared to find yourself calling them 'Rosie and, erm, Josa' rather a lot.

PrammyMammy · 27/11/2013 13:31

That is true actually. The amount of people who call dd Rosie the now without a Rosa in the equation. Never thought of that.

I don't like Emily with your other names, it's a bit run of the mill. How about Jude for a boy? Or Asher? Not keen on Nathan though I like Nathaniel. Not keen on Marlene at all. Girls: Jemima, Maisie.

greenhill · 27/11/2013 13:57

The name Nathan makes me think of a Bananarama song from the 80's but that dates me, not the name Grin. If he really is set on it (for the next few days anyway) why not expand it to Nathaniel or Jonathan? That way you get Nathan, Nat, Nate, Jon, Jonty, Jonny etc. They're classical biblical names and definitely go with Noah.

Also remind him that Emily is very popular, as are all the soundalikes of Emma, Amelia, Amelie, Emmy etc.

Good luck.
