My gawd I am becoming a baby name obsessive!

Love the nn Cece so we are considering Cecilia/Cecelia.

A/what do you think?

B/ How should it be pronounced?

Sa-SEE-lee-ah

Or

Sa-seel-yah

I love it! But I would pronounce it with more of a Seh sound at the front rather than a Sa.

So Seh-SEE-li-a

I also really like Cecily.

galwaygirl · 20/11/2013 15:09

I like it but can't get past the meaning of it

galwaygirl · 20/11/2013 15:10

Plus would pronounce as pink bell said

HyvaPaiva · 20/11/2013 15:12

Pinkbell's pronunciation and the spelling Cecelia is better, looks more rounded than Cecilia. It also makes more sense if you're using the nickname Cece.

OBface · 20/11/2013 15:18

Love Cecelia. Would use it myself if we had another girl but rhymes with dd's name!

UriGeller · 20/11/2013 15:20

Oh Beautiful! Its one of my favourite names.

I'd say "Seh-Seel-Yah" but pronounce it either way, its still the ultimate in elegant, timeless and gorgeous names.

Cece, well...I have a Cece (nn) but she's not Cecelia Grin

floatyflo · 20/11/2013 15:23

Yea that's what I meant I pinkbell. Sorry not very good at writing down pronounciations like that.

May I ask what Cece is short for with you Uri?

Lovely name and so is Cecily.

I would pronounce it Ses-see-le-yah.

hulabaloo · 20/11/2013 15:38

I like the sound of it, but the meaning isn't great (caecus = blind in latin). I'd say Seh-SEE-lya.

UriGeller · 20/11/2013 15:50

No, sorry! Its the best name ever and I'm not about to release it to the world!

squoosh · 20/11/2013 16:01

I just want to sing 'Suh-SEEEEEEEEEE-lya, you're breaking my heart' in a really jolly, obnoxious way.

I love Cece but think Cecilia is a very 'virginal, prune faced, maiden aunt' type name.

Mogz · 20/11/2013 16:30

I think it's gorgeous, it's very feminine yet strong.

birdybear · 20/11/2013 16:31

love it! you're breaking my heart! love the song too

Only1scoop · 20/11/2013 16:34

It's my MIL name and wow is she one scary mother Grin

ElizabethBathory · 20/11/2013 16:47

I love it and love Cece too.

Sundaedelight · 20/11/2013 17:56

Beautiful and original.
Know a lovely teenage Cecilia nn cece.

meditrina · 20/11/2013 17:59

I think it's a lovely name, and would pronounce the full form ses-SEE-li-ya

Ilovexmastime · 20/11/2013 19:13

It's my MIL's name and she hates it! Also, it makes me want to sing the Simon & Garfunkel song too every time I hear it.

wigglesrock · 20/11/2013 19:17

I prefer Cecile, Cecelia to me its what my grannys sisters were called. It's along the same lines as Dymphna, Patricia, Assumpta. I'm not explaining it very well Blush , it's a nun type name.

PavlovtheCat · 20/11/2013 19:43

KateCroydon · 20/11/2013 19:50

Love it. Seh-see-lia in English, Che-chi-lia in Italian.
