Sidney ('Sid') for a boy

Hello

DP and I are struggling to find the 'right' name for our baby boy due next year.

Current forerunner is Sidney ('Sid'). But for reasons I can't quite put my finger on I have reservations about it. As silly as it sounds I think it's because I have never known a Sidney and so can't imagine what sort of person a Sidney would be .....

Anyhow, suppose the reason I'm posting this is just to see what the general view on the name is.

Thanks !

Girls, I think I've been convinced to go for it .... ! Lively, bit naughty, cheeky grin are all descriptions that could be used for his father !! Characteristics that will surely travel down the gene pool Wink

Thanks all xx

My son is called Sid and you just summed him right up in that paragraph.

Wincher · 20/11/2013 21:29

It's my DS's middle name - we weren't brave enough to have it as a first name!

MaryBerrysBlazer · 21/11/2013 11:44

I love Sid!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 21/11/2013 11:46

I think the female version is spelt Sydney. Like Robyn, Lyndsey. But it's rare enough that no one will think it's a girl's name.

I love it btw.

I love it, DP's dad is called Sidney and we agreed it would be a middle name for our baby whatever the gender turned out to be. We had a DD but used the original spelling, the same as grandad
