DH and I finally agree on something... what do you think?

Almost 26 weeks now and expecting a little girl. We seem to have settled on the name Meredith Emily, probably Merrie for short or Meg (as those will be her initials). I'm well aware the name Emily is very popular so wasn't keen to use it as a first name. Are there any pitfalls or openings for ridicule with this name that I haven't thought of?

I like it :) . Emily is the middle name yes not double first name?

VisualiseAHorse · 13/11/2013 08:31

Meredith is lovely. I would like to use it too (if I'm ever allowed to have another baby!!). My DH tells me it's a boy's name traditionally, but that doesn't bother me.

glastocat · 13/11/2013 08:37

I like it.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 13/11/2013 08:40

bridgetsmum · 13/11/2013 08:42

I love it, Meredith is gorgeous, if I was to have another girl I would def use it Smile

AugustRose · 13/11/2013 08:47

I love it too, we know a Meredith (she is 3) and her family call her Merrie.

MrsBungleScare · 13/11/2013 08:51

Meredith is a lovely name.

Handbagsonnhold · 13/11/2013 08:52

Beautiful

TobyLerone · 13/11/2013 09:50

Meredith is top of our girls' list, too. Love it.

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 13/11/2013 09:51

Beautiful. Meredith is top of my list at the moment too.

Catchhimatwhat · 13/11/2013 10:34

Great!

Hazelbrowneyes · 13/11/2013 10:39

I love Meredith, it's a beautiful name.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 13/11/2013 14:35

Thants - yes Emily as a middle name (I think having a double barrelled first name that long would be a bit challenging, especially when she starts learning to write her name!)

Visualise - never heard of any boys called Meredith though I did once know an African guy called Hyacinth! Confused

Thanks for the reassurance, I'm glad others like it. I refuse to discuss names with my extended family as they always try to ruin the names for me Angry

Yes, a good name! Meredith is traditionally a boy's name (Welsh I think), but I don't think many boys are called that now, it would be a bit cruel as mostly it is given to girls these days.

Minty82 · 13/11/2013 15:13

Beautiful - I've never met a Meredith in real life, lovely name. And no, can't see any points of ridicule!

halecromp · 13/11/2013 18:06

It sounds lovely

daughterofafarmer · 13/11/2013 18:27

Really like it, good name.

Prefer spelling of Merry to the 'ie' however this is due to knowing 2 Merry's only.

CheshireSplat · 13/11/2013 22:36

Love Meredith. Used to work with someone with that name and Merry worked really well too.

ems1910 · 13/11/2013 23:50
