Clara or Claudia?

Yes, I've asked before, still can't decide.

If you're fed up of reading about the same names, don't admonish - just ignore!

I love Claudia. MN is the only place I have ever heard 'lame' referenced, I don't think it's a real world problem. and bear in mind Mary means bitter, you don't hear that raised as an issue

Clara is pretty but plain. Lovely name but nothing special.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 11/11/2013 23:03

Like both but much prefer Claudia. And this lame business is nonsense. I've only ever heard it here, no one in the Real World cares. My name means Princess, no bugger cares or has the decency to treat me like one!

Clara, love it & have only ever met one, so unusual, her parents were polish. Claudia is quite harsh to my ears, Clara sounds softer

smother · 12/11/2013 13:17

They are both lovely.... I think you should stick with Claudia and not worry at all about the latin meaning, it's a non-issue in the real world!!

Mim78 · 12/11/2013 14:36

I like Claudia.

Sorry that there is no overall majority!

noodlebum · 12/11/2013 14:53

Clara!

Bowlersarm · 12/11/2013 15:43

Does it matter that on MN someone always says Claudia means lame? I know two beautiful young Claudia's and my friend is a strong, striking 48 year old Claudia. And, surprise surprise, theres nothing 'lame' about any of them.

It's just a non issue about a very pretty name.

curlew · 12/11/2013 15:46

I like Clare better than Clara.

I would wait until you see the baby and decide. You might look at her and say "Hello, Stephanie!"

BitOutOfPractice · 12/11/2013 15:49

I like them both

Clara is a gentler name I think. Claudia is a bit more feisty.

Bakingtins · 12/11/2013 15:54

Clara.

ZeroTolerance · 15/11/2013 13:08

Thanks all.

So hard! DH definitely prefers Claudia, which thrills me as he's usually a bit vanilla about names. The Latin thing troubles me but the sensible part of my brain is telling me that's silly.

Clara was on my list for D1 but got stolen by my aunt as a middle name for her dd. I think it is feminine and beautiful. Claudia sounds like a cats name imo

I prefer Claudine to Claudia. Not sure if I should say that when you are down to two names, so to answer your question I'd choose Clara over Claudia. Its horrible trying to make such a decision isn't it.
