Yey, my BFF's little girl was born this morning at 11am. Just recieved the text and a question "last minute decision to call her Poppy, is it right or am i new mummy crazy, were going to call her Alice".

She is 11 days overdue so Poppy was not on the name cards. Really don't know what to advise her. I like the name but she is obviously picking it because of her DD's time and date of birth. Thoughts? BTW she approved my sharing this with you all. Said i would get back to her this afternoon.

Perfect choice - I was going to suggest exactly that.

My DS was born on a Friday, at 5 to 5 - guess what we called him?Wink

sittinginthesun · 11/11/2013 21:52

You're all going to be too young for this, aren't you?

"It's Friday! It's 5 to 5! It's ....."

Its a gorgeous name & your BFF should pick whatever she wants & ignore anyone who thinks its contrived. Margaret is also a smashing middle name. Congrats to your BFF!

Perfect names, love it. Funnily enough, today's my birthday and I've often thought it would have been cool to have been called Poppy.

Weegiemum · 12/11/2013 00:47

Lovely name.

Margaret is lovely too - it's both my middle name and my best friends name (children of 1970, anyone!!)

extracrunchy · 12/11/2013 00:57

I think it's a lovely idea!

amandine07 · 12/11/2013 23:51

Aw I love the name Poppy- much more than Alice.
It's a lovely, special reason for the name- who cares if others think that it is contrived? That's their problem

Mim78 · 13/11/2013 13:52

There's nothing wrong with calling her Poppy anyway. It's a perfectly nice name. People aren't always going to be thinking of the DOB because they won't know.
