Names to go with Joseph and Isobel

39+2 days and still no definite name chosen especially if a girl.
First time we only had joseph and second time it was always Isobel (although hadn't thought about spelling at that point)
For a boy quite like Benjamin but we have a long surname (10letters) which may not go. DH likes Daniel but cousin has child with that name.
For a girl we've thought about Esther, Eleanor, Elizabeth (love Libby but feel that is a nn), Sophie, esme, Martha, phoebe but not thrilled on any.
I liked iris but DH didn't and DS said it rhymes with virus!
Middle names are to be family ones of Michael and Catherine. Also our surname starts with a C so I don't want a first name of that letter. Also didn't want a J or an I but funnily enough would have disregarded that for iris.
Really starting to panic as I tend to be quite anal and hate having no name chosen.

I like your choices, particularly Benjamin and Elizabeth/Libby, and think We have similar taste, so I give you;

Reuben, Matthew, Harry, William, Jonathan, Isaac

Charlotte, Miriam, Hannah, Evelyn, Hope

I realise some of them don't fit with the J/I/C initials rules.

Both my DC's names and my DH's are on Bakingtins' list!

For girl I like Marnie, Elsie, Sophie, Mia, Sarah, Nikita

For boy I like James, Charlie, Zachary,

Like Matthew and Hannah but our neighbours children who are same age as mine and play together have those names. That tends to be the trouble once you have kids you don't want to duplicate.
Charlotte isn't actually a c sound so would work and I do like it but with middle name catherine initials would be CCC which might be odd.
Like Zachary but very popular at school children go to.

Harriet - Hatty?

I wouldn't go for Elizabeth with Isobel unless you are good at tongue twisters.

I like Hannah and also Emily for a girl. For a boy I like William or Henry. There are actually very few boys names that I do like.

Now I'm practicing Isobel and Elizabeth.
I spent breakfast time shouting for joseph, Isobel and ??? ( insert a name!) kids think I'm loopy.
DH doesn't like Matilda, DS thinks it's just a book.

at practising saying the names -- but I tangled myself shamefully over a party consisting of Isabella, Elizabeth, Lily and Emily! In fact, aren't Elizabeth and Isobelbasically variations on the same name?

Think I would use Ben but would want to christen Benjamin. Joseph never gets anything other than full name although his sister is occasionally shortened to bel.
There are lots of these names I like but nothing that grabs me, maybe I'm expecting too much.

Well, Heloise the French name is definitely old. I think it's very pretty and goes well with the other names.

Yes, but don't you end up mentally adding '...and Abelard', and then wondering if that's the role model you want for your child's relationships or am i overthinking this?

You can't have Elizabeth and Isabel, it's the same name.

I have an Isabel and if I'd ever had a boy he would quite possibly have been Joseph.

I also have a Lucy; Joseph, Isobel and Lucy works imo :)
