Zac or Zachary? And middle name suggestions please!

We are thinking of calling DS Zac or Zachary. We love them both though are undecided on which one to go for.
I think he would just get called Zac most of ther time so part of me can't see why you'd bother registering him as Zachary, and I know Zac is a name in its own right. On the other hand Zachary is a lovely name too... Though we have a 3 syllable surname so Zachary might be a bit of a mouthful...??
Any thoughts?

Also, we're struggling a bit with middle names so would appreciate any suggestions please.
Initial thoughts are:
Zac Joseph
or
Zachary George

Thanks in advance!

He might appreciate the choice of the longer/formal version when he's older, so I'd go for Zachary, nickname Zac. Great name by the way!

I also know of an Isaac, nickname Zac.

I think I would go for Zachary, to give him the option when he is older as Coupon says. Anything can be a name in its own right if you like it, though.

I like Zachary Joseph but Zachary George is nice too.

Zachary James

I love Zach. With an h. (But slightly biased) Zach Joseph is great.

I have a Zachary James :) we abbreviate it to Zach mainly but he can choose what he prefers when he is older :)

I'd def go with Isaac or Zachary. Use a full name on the BC

Zacharysmummy12 · 27/10/2013 16:07

Our son is Zachary Patrick (Patrick after daddy) and our surnames three syllable too we've never thought of it as a problem lol we never call Zachary by Zac but everyone on my side still calls it him that even though we've asked them not to! If you prefer just Zac I say go for it you don't need a long name if you're never going to use it x

Thanks all, I think we might go with Zac. That's what we'd call him all the time anyway and with our surname Zachary might be too much.
I am not really into the argument about giving them naming options when they are older really, after all if they really didnt like their name they could always change it! And I do prefer names you cant easily shorten (ie. Aidan, Joel and Leon were also on our shortlist).

So... Middle names for Zac - suggestions please!

Zachary as full name on bc. Seems to carry more clout on job applications etc?! Great name.

Zachary James, Andrew, Edward, Luke, William,

Zachary Alexander....
Zachary David...
Zachary James...

I don't know, I think anything sounds nice with Zachary really...you just have to be careful...Zachary Elijah might be a bit too much...

TheNunsOfGavarone · 31/10/2013 13:16

Zachary is great and so is Zac as a shortening.
