Having a dispute with my parnter, seen the name Hadley quite unusual, girls name on one site and boys name on another... What do you prefer it as?

I've only known one, a man.

MissPlumBroughtALadder · 15/10/2013 17:41

Definitely girl.

Alisvolatpropiis · 15/10/2013 17:43

I'd say girl, wasn't it Hemmingways wife's name?

It's awful though.

PipkinsPal · 15/10/2013 17:45

Neither, it's a surname.

CecyHall · 15/10/2013 17:46

Girl, I only know Hadley Freeman with that name.

Polpotsbabyteeth · 15/10/2013 17:47

A member of Spandau Ballet.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/10/2013 17:48

Neither, its an area of Telford. Or if you spell it Hadleigh, a nice town in Suffolk.

bundaberg · 15/10/2013 17:48

i know one and it's a boy

missmargot · 15/10/2013 17:49

Hadley is a female character in True Blood, I've not heard the name before or since.

moominleigh94 · 15/10/2013 17:53

I know it's used in America quite a bit for girls, never heard it on a boy.

StetsonsAreCool · 15/10/2013 17:54

Errol beat me to it. Not one of the nicest areas either

I would say it's like Taylor, in that it could be used for either. I wouldn't assume either if I heard somebody say the name out loud.

junebaby2014 · 15/10/2013 18:07

Thanks guys. It's not a name id like to call my child it has just been bugging me and kind of jumped out at me...

I sometimes wonder if some American parents choose names by sticking a pin into a map of England Grin

devonsmummy · 15/10/2013 18:20

I'd say boy's

Bunbaker · 15/10/2013 18:21

I wouldn't have known what to think. It sounds a bit like a handbag brand.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 15/10/2013 18:23

Girl. Very American, like all those Peytons and Harpers and things.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 15/10/2013 18:25

Hadleigh is an estate agent around here.

Bunbaker · 15/10/2013 18:34
