What do you think of Francesca? Is it a bit dated or do you see it as classic? Thanks

Love it. It is getting very popular in Catholic baby girls now.

Ciccia is an Italian nickname.

katieelh · 06/10/2013 14:39

Well I love it it, but I am biased because I've got one too and she is the sweetest little baby ever!!
We were only going touse Francesca no nn, but I do find myself calling her chesca a bit .

Leeds2 · 06/10/2013 14:55

I love it.

I know a few Francescas, and they are all known as Frankie.

JustBecauseICan · 06/10/2013 19:37

Love it. Very classy.

Francesca is OK but I don't like the nicknames Fran or Ceska.

Love Frances though.

VeraLockski · 07/10/2013 20:03

I like Frankie much better than Fran - Fran is the least attractive nickname in my opinion but people do seem to want to use it.

I have never, ever heard of a chavvy person calling their child Francesca. If anything I would have said a bit the other way, if anything.

VeraLockski · 07/10/2013 20:04

Chicha (pronounced Kika) is a traditional Italian nickname.

fluffythelabcat · 10/10/2013 17:22

I love it, could be shortened to Chessie or I think Frankie is cute too.

LoreleisSecret · 15/10/2013 19:39

I love it (it's my name Smile)

ZZZenagain · 15/10/2013 19:43

I like it, don't find it dated

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 23/10/2013 17:13

DD2's name!

We call her Chessie. DD1 called her Franchie sometimes.

I like it a lot although I can't say I really absolutely love it. It was a compromise name. But it's her now, so I love it as part of her.

Completely pointless but slightly relevant to this thread - dd (age 6) has requested on the way home from school that she be called Francesca from now on...

(This is her middle name so not so random but also nothing like her first name that she has been known by for the past almost 7 years...) Grin

PiratePanda · 24/10/2013 16:40

I love Francesca. No reason why you can't use the whole thing all the time; my DS gets his full 4 syllables always.

Jessie or Effie as a NN?

SelectAUserName · 24/10/2013 18:35

I love it; one of my favourite names. Don't mind Chesca but not keen on Fran or Frankie.

I think if she wants to use the whole thing as she gets older then that will define what her friends call her. I'm friends with a Christina and have only ever heard her referred to as such; not Chris, not Chrissie, not Tina etc. If she happily accepts a nickname then you're stuck with it!
