My friend has just chosen the name we were going with. Had a cry - bloody hormones - and now had a word with myself to not be so silly :-( anyone else had this? Trouble is not really sure of any other names....

Is it Freddie for a nickname that you are after? I would go for Wilfred, I bloody love that name. In fact I half wish we'd used it for DS3.

ILoveMakeUp · 25/09/2013 15:37

Yes, to Wilfrid nn 'Freddie'.

Ok I say lots but I suppose there aren't really lots.

Frederick, Wilfred, Manfred........I'm stumped after that.

Hate to be cynical, but your son will have that name for the rest of his life and you might lose touch with this friend next week and not even remember her name in 10 years.

Go for it.

This happened the other way for me, my friend had a baby after us and said they wanted my dd's name but decided that it wasn't a good idea. I said don't be silly, use it (top 20 name) but they didn't.
Just as an aside, we have 4 Freddie's in reception- sounds like you might come across quite a few......

Could you use the spelling Freddy instead?

anotherbitofcake · 28/09/2013 09:37

Thanks all. Will have a think! Who'd have thought a name could cause such grief.
