I've joined especially for some advice! Think we are settled on a girl's name (which I do love but wouldn't be my first choice.) So undecided on boy's though! We just don't agree!
Girl's-
Rosalie Elsa May (i know MN May is common and hated by some but is a family name)
I love Ailsa but DP says it's too hard to pronounce? And Meredith (NN Edie) which he hates! And Arrietty
DP also likes Athena (NN Thea), Ophelia (NN Effie)

Boys is a mix!
Otis
Reggie (family)
Edison
Theoden
Albin
(DP vetoed my favourite, Harris)
Morris
Ellis (family)
Murphy (family)

Opinions please! Don't let me down, we haven't got long!

Not convinced by Rosalie Elsa, as I think they merge together. Love Meredith and really love Edie. Arietty is gorgeous but a Borrower name. Hate Athena.

Sorry but I don't like any of your boys' names but Ellis. Assume you are LOTR fans? In which case, how about Rowan?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/09/2013 20:11

Sorry - forgot to welcome you. :)

rosietoes2 · 23/09/2013 20:16

Thank you! No I'm not a LOTR fan-DP only just admitted to me where he got Theoden from!! Not convinced now!
Also forgot to ask for suggestions and any middle names! It's over to mumsnet now...!

Rosalie is nice but I love Ailsa and Ophelia. Also think Arriety is gorgeous but it's so obviously Borrower, I'm not sure I've ever heard it used anywhere else. You couldn't have Ailsa Elsa though, and Ophelia Elsa doesn't sound great either.

For boys I love Ellis and quite like Edison and Morris. It's a shame Harris is out, that would have been my favourite too.

From your suggestions how about:
Ailsa Rosalie May
Rosalie Ailsa May
Ophelia May
Ailsa Meredith
Rosalie Arietty May
Athena Rosalie May

Edison Morris
Morris Albin
Ellis Theoden
Reggie Theoden
Edison Otis
Ellis Murphy

Other suggestions on a similar theme.

Boys:

Ellis is the best of your boys names. Elliot is nicer, and the only Ellis I know is a girl.

Rosalie Elsa is v clunky. Rosalie is okaaaay, but not great. Rosa is better.

Thea is pretty, but an odd nn for the name our dh has in mind. What about Althea?

Mutteroo · 24/09/2013 02:03

Meredith is the only girls name of yours that I like, plus I love Edie as a nn. Agree with TerrorMeSue, Rosa is nicer than Rosalie. I know a three year old Rosa & its suited her as a baby & toddler.

I'm not keen on any of your boys names sorry, but life would be very dull if we all had the same taste!
