Same initial for both children? Or too twee?

Hello

I have been asking friends' opinions on this so thought I would ask Mumsnet too... Would you give a second child of the same sex a name beginning with the same initial? Or is it too twee?

Eg
Toby and Tristan
Oliver and Oscar
Harry and Henry

etc, etc.

Opinions gratefully received!

Don't do it! In my experience it will cause years of arguments opening each others post! Plenty of other names out there without using same initials. Good luck!

How much post do all you get?

OH and I have the same first initial and the boys have the same first initial as each other, but no confusion seems to occur.

We dont get Bank Statements or Utility Bills etc as these are all switched off and all accounts are managed on-line - including the boys who have internet banking.

Pretty much the only (non Junk) mail we recieve is Birthday cards etc....and we all have different birthdays and they aslo tend to have our full name on. Or if we have ordered something and then usually we would know who's it was without looking at the label even.

Genuinely curious as maybe I am missing something or it's all still to come.

How much post do you people get?!! Even growing up before the internet I never got tons of post, and I expect with emails etc teenagers get barely any now.

Cross post Grin.

My mum opened my post too even though our initials were different - must be a mum thing!

I'm sure my DDs will find lots of things to argue about as they grow older so at least that's one fight I know is coming!

I wouldn't rule out a name just because it had the same initial, but would avoid one if there was also a similar sound in the name, say Jacob and Jamie but I think Jamie and John would be fine.

Depends what it is but it wouldn't bother me

I wouldn't do Harry and Henry though as Harry comes from Henry, it is the nickname.
