As a child I loved the Anne of Green Gables series, and I'm toying with Marilla as a name, its roman which would work well with my ds as he has a Latin/Romanesque name. Thought it could be shortened to Mari or Rilla. Does it work as a name?

I though maybe paired with something more 'classic'
Like Marilla Elizabeth or
Amy Marilla

Ooh, I love it! Rilla is such a lovely nn too. I think it's clear where your inspiration came from, but that would just mark you as a kindred spirit for me Smile. I also like the idea of Cordelia too, but don't like it so much as a name.

To be honest, I love the books but Marilla sounds to me like an old lady, rather than a little girl. I know your little dd will be an old lady one day but it could take a long time!
