Honor is lovely!

Tristan is too 'triste' = sad. How about Reuben, Quentin or Sebastian which have a similar feel (without the sadness)?

daughterofafarmer · 17/09/2013 13:44

Thank you eva Reuben, Quentin aren't quite right and Sebastian has already been used by a great friend.

Tristan is lovely! I am biased though.

My T isn't sad at all, stroppy at times granted, rarely sad Grin

squoosh · 17/09/2013 13:51

Honor is lovely.

Tristan is wet.

daughterofafarmer · 17/09/2013 13:52

Hahaha squoosh you post always make me Smile any other suggestions?

I'm afraid I too think of triste ('sad' in French and Latin) when I hear Tristan. I love Quentin though or how about Fabian?

bananamummy · 17/09/2013 13:55

Or how about Rowan, Florian, Aneurin?

CostaLady · 17/09/2013 13:59

I like Tristan, but Quentin just makes me think of Uncle Quentin, the grumpy scientist from the Famous Five books. I live in a working class area and anyone called Florian would get the absolute piss riped out of them, lovely as it is.
Honor's beautiful.

daughterofafarmer · 17/09/2013 14:03

Great names but not quite us.

We like Honor too Wink

If you do you Tristan, no fucker will be able to pronounce or spell it correctly, I didn't think it was difficult, but apparently it is. Angry

BlackMogul · 17/09/2013 14:27

Cat... Do you have to swear! Tristan is perfectly easy to pronounce and a great name. Lots of other lovely suggestions here too.

BuffyFairy · 17/09/2013 14:30

Use Tristan! It's my favourite boy's name but sadly DH has vetoed it... along with Reuben, Fabian and Sebastian.

CatAmongThePigeons · 17/09/2013 14:33

Sorry Black we are allowed to swear though and after many years of people calling Tristan, Tristian, Triston, Christian and Tristin people do find it harder than I would have believed!

squoosh · 17/09/2013 14:38

I like Fabian. He'd be devastatingly handsome, a bit of a cad with the ladies, live in Paris, write some poetry and recline on a bed of silk sheets whilst smoking the finest Cuban cigars..........

I like Raphael too, with Raf for short.

Quentin also reminds me of Uncle Quentin from the Famous Five.

BlackMogul · 17/09/2013 14:41

I do understand Cat. Years of frustration led me never to use my first name again! I cannot recall how many times I had to spell it out to people. I cannot understand why on earth this should happen to a Tristan though. It is not that unusual and way more normal than my name!

OrangeJuiceSandwich · 17/09/2013 14:59

Tristan is miserable name for me. Don't like the meaning at all.

daughterofafarmer · 17/09/2013 17:23

cat some people are idoits. Personally it says more about them than the name Tristan.

schplappo · 18/09/2013 01:42

Honor is the best ever name for a girl! (biased...)

Tristan goes pretty well with it, I think.

If you change your mind, how about
Theodore
Lucian (Luc)
Alexander
Milo
Thibault
Tobias
Mont(gomer)y
Darius

Good luck!

catgirl1976 · 18/09/2013 07:28

Tristan means noisy :)

I have one and he is neither wet nor sad (he is noisy)

I love it (but of course am biased)

SkodaLabia · 18/09/2013 11:27

Honor is beautiful.

I'm another who finds Tristan a bit lacking in oomph for my taste. But I'm agog that people can't spell it!

CatAmongThePigeons · 18/09/2013 12:10

People are idiots, I fear I know more idiots than most who can't spell or pronounce names properly.

Cat girl has a Tristan too, there's something about cat folk who have great named children Wink

catgirl1976 · 18/09/2013 19:53

Ah yes, we cats have superb taste in names Grin

daughterofafarmer · 18/09/2013 20:26

So a right mix of reactions then?

Regards of views do you think I works with DD's name?

Any other name suggestions?
