Surname is long and begins with an 'S' - I did want 'Kira Isobel Sadie' but worried it would be too much, liked the initials though Wink she's due on the 11th so really need definitive 'it's great' or 'it's crap' lol thanks much Smile

Chose spelling Kira rather than Keira simply for that 'bit different' and didn't like kyra which was the other popular spelling. I didn't want to put it on her that she'll spend her whole life spelling it out until dp rightly pointed out he has to spell out his surname for everyone except family - so four extra letters won't hurt.. And he likes it now he's googled name meanings lol. Thanks for the comments and constructive criticisms, saved me making a booboo Smile

And it's correct that here in the uk Keira is the more common way of spelling it, just think its a lovely and still unusual name

I like it OP, Kira is a lovely name, and sadie sounds like a nice bridging name to a surname.

Mumblyboo · 09/09/2013 21:12

Kyra? Is that better?

soontobeslendergirl · 09/09/2013 21:33

Keira is not necessary a mangled spelling of Ciara, it's the feminine form of Keir which is a Scottish surname (often used as a forename) and therefore a legitimate spelling too.

...and actually I like the spelling Kira - I don't know why people would struggle to pronounce it it reminds me of the juice Kia ora for some reason :o

Rhubarbgarden · 09/09/2013 23:10

I prefer Keira. Kira looks like it should be pronounced K-eye-ra

Linnet · 09/09/2013 23:22

Kira is a lovely name, it's Persian for light. I think Kira Isobel Sadie sounds nice.

ThingsThatGoBumpInTheNight · 10/09/2013 19:48

Thanks ladies Smile think I'll stick with Kira then and carry on fluffing about middle names until these twinges I keep getting following a mad bout of window cleaning actually result in a baby - Grin

Sadie makes me think sadism (sorry). Kira is fine. Makes me think of the Lion King.

Suzietwo · 10/09/2013 19:56

Sadie is lovely

Frontdoorstep · 10/09/2013 19:59

I think they are both nice and nice together.

HappyHugs · 10/09/2013 23:18

Just use Ciara ifyou want to avoid the KISS initials. Its the Irish version of the name and is gorgeous (no letter k in Irish alphabet).

Ragusa · 11/09/2013 00:04

I really like Kira. Would you pronounce it with short I sound or long 'ee'sound? I also know a female Kiran ( like it a lot as a name) and a Kiwa ( Kee-wah) - NZ name, not at all sure about that one ;)

I have an unspellable name. Has not affected my life in the slightest.

ThingsThatGoBumpInTheNight · 11/09/2013 16:37

Double e sound I think - love the idea or at least did that she would have the initials 'k.i.s.s' but then I'm a terrible mummy Wink maybe some may think 'chavvy' but assure you I'm not Smile going on with Kira Isobel ATM still faffing over Sadie

Just want to thank all the people who have responded Envy

I think Kira is a pretty name. I quite like Sadie as well but they dont sound good together to my ear(that could just be my accent though!).

Frikadellen · 11/09/2013 17:24

I like both and together they are pretty imo

Sadie204 · 14/09/2013 21:48

My name in RL is Sadie and my maiden name was a longish commonly mis-spelled surname beginning with S lol!!! Used to love my initials being SS, thought it was cool Hmm. Have avoided the alliterative names for my children though. I think Keira looks better than Kira, purely cos I want to sound out the 'I' as in k-eye-ra for some strange reason! Good luck though whatever you choose

P.S. I actually love the K.I.S.S initials Grin

ThingsThatGoBumpInTheNight · 14/09/2013 22:57

Thanks Sadie Grin actually been told that there were sadie's in my mums family so am going to go for it, tbh no one really ever sees middle names except on forms or when you're getting married so what the hell, if she doesn't like it there's always deed poll Wink

May I ask how you are pronouncing Kira? I like it when it's ki-eye-ra but not as in Keira? Not so keen on Sadie, however its your choice & other opinions are just that.

Wishing you all the best for your baby's arrival.

Viviennemary · 15/09/2013 00:43

I don't like Sadie very much. Kira is a bit better. Isobel. Yes that's nice.

hettienne · 15/09/2013 00:54

I like both, and prefer them to Isobel. I would go with Ciara or Keira rather than Kira personally.
