Any thoughts on this? Is it a bit "too much"? And what about shortenings/nicknames?

Seraphina

Seraphina

hettienne · 08/09/2013 20:16

Opinions on the name as well as the spelling?

Seraphina not Serafina.

I like the name, I would have though the name would just be halved for a nn, Sera or Phina.

Saffyz · 08/09/2013 20:49

Seraphina

hettienne · 08/09/2013 20:51

I rather like the Serafina spelling.

Saffy is the nn.

RubyLovesShopping · 08/09/2013 22:31

Seraphina looks nicest written down

tywysogesgymraeg · 08/09/2013 22:33

Seraphina/Saffy

tywysogesgymraeg · 08/09/2013 22:36

Think it its a type of angel "cherubin and seraphim"

Amrapaali · 08/09/2013 22:37

I like Serafina. Reminds me of the witch in The Golden Compass....

curiousgeorgie · 08/09/2013 22:38

I have a Seraphina, and I completely love it!

(Gets a pretty negative real life reaction though!)

hettienne · 08/09/2013 22:39

What kind of negative real life reaction? Shock

What about Sephira too? I have a pal called that and it gets shortened to Sef or sefi.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 08/09/2013 22:41

It like it, especially with the second spelling

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 08/09/2013 22:43

Serafina spelling wise I think I slightly prefer. Though couldn't tell you why.

It's a nice name. Unusual without being bonkers off the wall.

hettienne · 08/09/2013 22:58

I'm pleasantly surprised by the positive responses so far :)

Quite a lot of close relatives and friends have said they don't like it (As I stupidly mentioned it before she was born!)

And when booking into the doctor or baby massage or something I always get a comment like.. 'Seraphina? Oh? Unusual.' 'That's quite strange' and even a 'what made you choose That??'

All the way through my pregnancy I said I didn't care because I loved it so much but have found myself calling her by her nickname much more around the people I know don't like it.

She's only 10 weeks old though, she'll grow into it Wink

CruCru · 09/09/2013 12:58

I love Seraphina. It is surprisingly easy to spell and people should, on the whole, know how to pronounce it.

CruCru · 09/09/2013 12:59

Mind, I'd never get it past DH.

RoadToTuapeka · 09/09/2013 16:23

I think the latter two have too many syllables and prefer Seraphine, which I think is a lovely name.

ZolaBuddleia · 09/09/2013 18:52

I love Seraphina.

Rhubarbgarden · 09/09/2013 22:58

Frilliest of the frillies. Too saccharine for me.
