Another middle name for Peony Sophie.....

Hope you can help.....!

I am due on the 1st Feb 2014 and do not know what i'm having apart from a baby

We love the name Peony for a girl and want Sophie as a middle name. The problem is our surname begins with 'S' and is a bit of a mouthfull, so ideally I would like another name in between Sophie and Surname to break up the S's! I thought something short like Rose would sweet but it's a bit tame for me and I'd like something a bit more exciting.

Our boys name is Wilfred Arthur Percival if that gives you some idea of the type of pretentious names we like.

Thanks.

The only word of caution I'd offer is that if her surname starts with an S the Peony might possibly run into the S in an unfortunate way.

Peony Smith
Peony Sullivan
Peony Sinclair

Does it sound a bit dodgy to anyone else or is it just me?

HenriettaPye · 28/08/2013 11:14

That's what I thought too sqoosh

Rooners · 28/08/2013 11:16

It is beautiful BUT as pointed out it sounds a bit like penis. Sad

Can you switch the names around? Peony is also quite hard to say out loud though it looks pretty on paper.

noblegiraffe · 28/08/2013 11:17

No, PeonyS is v dodgy.

Shropshiremummy2B · 28/08/2013 11:18

In what way squoosh?

It may be obvious to you you but A) Im blonde and B) Ive never named a child before!

Someone suggested that they thought it was too much like pee-on-me........

please call her Sophie not Peony, she will get called 'penis' endlessly by people at school who will think they are hilarious.

nocarsgo · 28/08/2013 11:19

Agreeing that Peony S- sounds like penis. Sorry!

Shropshiremummy2B · 28/08/2013 11:19

Ohhhhh! Penis. Just got it. Back to the drawing board then!!!

Well for example Peony Smith said quickly, sounds to me like Penis Mith.

Sorry!

Rooners · 28/08/2013 11:21

Peonys sounds a bit like a Greek God.

TheFillyjonk · 28/08/2013 11:23

Sorry, I also thought 'penis'. I would avoid Peony for this reason -she will be teased and even laughed at as an adult. I'm not sure about Sophie as an alternative first name, but it depends on how your surname sounds. Sophie S may sound a bit naff.

Pachacuti · 28/08/2013 11:25

Peony is lovely, but not with a surname beginning with S. I sympathise as many names I liked for my DCs were ruled out by the surname.

thegreylady · 28/08/2013 11:50

Just a thought-I know a very beautiful girl [14 now] named Theonie.

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 28/08/2013 11:55

What about Posy as an alternative to Peony? Although it doesn't go with Sophie so you'd still need a new middle name. I think it's lovely though and avoids the penis/peeonme issue...

DorisIsWaiting · 28/08/2013 11:57

There was a gag in a drama comedy show recently abot the peony/ penis similarity. Use it as a middle name.

GummyLopes · 28/08/2013 12:01

Peony Sophie Isabel
Peony Sophie Isolde
Peony Sophie Iphiginia
Peony Sophie Peony
Peony Sophie Help

fanjodisfunction · 28/08/2013 13:02

Use Peony as a middle name, as they say above it does run into the S and makes you think of penis.

How about

Persephone
Seraphina
Petunia
Primrose

What other names are you thinking about

Shropshiremummy2B · 28/08/2013 13:43

Erm, struggling really...

Henrietta
Celeste
Nell
Harriet
Wilhelmina (shortened to Willa or Willow - yes more phalic connotations!)

Aghhhh!!! Confused Suppose I have got til February......

Individually the names are fine. But I don't think they go well together. Peony is a bit unusual for me but it's quite pretty.

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 28/08/2013 14:16

Peony made me imagine school children calling her pee pee...

I like Harriet and Henrietta from the ones you suggested :)

User9987634234 · 28/08/2013 14:19

I actually thought pee-on-me, but yes I can imagine the penis comments as well.

How about:

Aurora
Beatrix

Or in a similar flowery theme to Peony, how about Posy?

User9987634234 · 28/08/2013 14:20

Why not Sophie or Sophia if you like it as a middle name. Both lovely.

GummyLopes · 28/08/2013 14:36

Peony Sophie Celeste. Funny but lovely Smile

Shropshiremummy2B · 28/08/2013 14:37

My sister is Sophie and she's around lots, it would get confusing.

Henrietta is my second choice, but i'm pretty sure my Mum said she didn't like it ages ago. If it were one of you not liking it I could live with it but not Mummy!!

OK: lose the Sophie and shove Muumy. Have you thought about Susan or Valerie?
