Please tell me your associations for each of the names. It's Alexandra on the birth certificate, but is it too long for everyday use?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Don't see why it would be. Though I know a few Alexas and Alexs, and one Ali, and it's whatever suits them.

buttercrumble · 19/08/2013 19:07

Love Alexandra as a whole , and also love Sasha . Not too keen on Alexa 😀

buttercrumble · 19/08/2013 19:09
Smile
Wishfulmakeupping · 19/08/2013 19:09

Don'tlike sasha love the other two :)

Thurlow · 19/08/2013 19:10

Ours is either Alex or Allie. Sascha is nice but I have to say it's only on MN that I know people who know it as a nn for Alexander/ra

valiumredhead · 19/08/2013 19:12

I don't like Alexa but I like Alexi.

valiumredhead · 19/08/2013 19:13

Sandy is a Nick name for Alexander usually. Never heard of Sasha being used!

nextphase · 19/08/2013 19:30

Lexie is another shortening I've heard.

Prefer Alexa from your 2.

SleepyCatOnTheMat · 19/08/2013 20:18

Sasha, definitely. Just classier for me somehow. Also like Alex.

Rhubarbgarden · 19/08/2013 20:34

I love Sasha.

LaRosaBella · 19/08/2013 21:16

How would you get Sacha from Alexandra? I would have thought people would call her Alex or Alexa for short?

mnmkjs · 20/08/2013 20:24

I love the name Sasha - it was top of my list and I think it's quite unusual and classy. However, my sister told me she thought it was a bit common which surprised me... and now I'm confused!

Bowlersarm · 20/08/2013 20:29

Lexi would get my vote. But I do like Sasha as well.

Yonionekanobe · 20/08/2013 20:36

I have an Alexandra shorterned to Lexie whilst she is little. She can then see if she prefers something different.

I am now looking for a similarly malleable girls' name as expecting DD2!

language · 21/08/2013 08:49

Younionekanobe: if it helps, we also had Isabelle (Izzy, Bella)and Marguerite (Maggie, Rita) on our list.

Sasha is the Russian diminutive of Alexander, which is how it has become short for Alexander/ra.

I think Alexandra is lovely and wouldn't shorten, but if I needed to, I think Sasha is a nice way to do it.

lottieandmia · 21/08/2013 10:39

All the Alexandras I know are shortened to Alex. It's a brilliant name.

wigglesrock · 21/08/2013 11:10

I love Sasha, I'd use it as a stand alone name. As far as I'm aware its Sasha for a girl, Sacha for a boy.

Alex is nice too, but I know loads age between 9 and 18 months - all girls. I also know of 2 Alexas and 1 Alexis under 8 months. As a disclaimer my kids have the most popular names ever Smile , it doesn't bother me, but I know it does some people.

squoosh · 21/08/2013 11:45

I don't like Alexandra, it's a bit stuffy. But I love Sasha and like Alex and Ali. Not a fan of Lexie.

Alexa is a bit blingy and Vegas-y to me.

noodlebum · 21/08/2013 11:47

I love Sasha as a name on its own.

juneybean · 21/08/2013 11:48

I love all three and wouldn't hesitate to use any of them.

I like Alex as a nickname but could also go with Alexa or Sasha

NordicLight · 21/08/2013 15:43

I like Alexandra. Do not like Lexi.
Sasha makes too much of a slushy sound for me to warm to it. Probably just me.

Yonionekanobe · 21/08/2013 19:04

It does help - thanks OP!

Linguaphile · 21/08/2013 19:06

I love Alexandra. Prefer Lexa or Lex as a nickname.
