Sophie or Laura

Some thoughts please! I don't know what I'm having, but will leave boys names until another day.

I like both names and would choose Sophie straight away if it wasn't for it's popularity. This is my first baby and so don't have loads to do with lots of small children - will there be loads of babies called Sophie and should I avoid it because of this?

I like Laura as it is simple and not as 'pretty' as Sophie. However, middle name is chosen based on family link and is quite fuss-free too so not sure if it will go as well as Sophie would. Surname is one syllable if that makes a difference...

Thanks

Sophie is lovely. Not as popular as Sophia around here.

Neither. Both too popular round here. That puts me off but that may not be an issue for you, Op

Lorna is lovely.

Ds2 would have been Sophia or Laura, had he been a girl. Love Sophie too. Louisa would also have been in the running were it not for a cousin with the name already.

I do think Sophia is probably a bit more unusual than Sophie, but both are lovely.

Tbh I'd go with the name you love. I was one of three others in my class at school with my name, but as an adult, it is a popular name but not too much so. Also, ds1 has a popular name, but he's still the only one in his class with that name, so it can be difficult to predict.

I love Laura
