Presumably after Oscar. But for fuck's sake!

Could have been after Kim Wink

JumpingJackSprat · 15/08/2013 08:03

I quite like that.

RhondaJean · 15/08/2013 08:05

I think that's beautiful.

SeashellHoarder · 15/08/2013 08:19

I think that's actually quite nice...

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 15/08/2013 08:27

It's lovely.

Could be unfortunate with the wrong surname though...

SavoyCabbage · 15/08/2013 08:27

I met a girl called Winsome yesterday.

ComtesseDeSpair · 15/08/2013 09:44

I rather like it. Strong. Bucks the trend for frilly, 'girly' names.

I know a little girl called Sloane and would never have thought of it as a name before her - but on her, it's beautiful and fits perfectly.

SneakyBiscuitEater · 15/08/2013 18:12

I know one baby with this as a middle name, it was her mother's maiden name.

ViviDeBeauvoir · 15/08/2013 18:19

As long as she isn't on the heavy side and her surname isn't Beest she'll be ok.

EnidClowes · 15/08/2013 20:08

I've met a two year old called Wilder/Wylder- not sure of spelling. Seemed really odd at first but has grown on me.

LazyMonkeyButler · 15/08/2013 20:10

Countess there's a Sloane who works in our local Co-Op. I'd never heard the name before either.

Wilde isn't terrible - I wouldn't choose it myself though.

Anjou · 16/08/2013 00:20

I think I quite like it. With my accent it would be pronounced 'whiled' (one syllable), while (sorry!) where I live it would be 'Why-ulled'. Not so keen on that.

Re: Sloane. If they were born post-1986ish, maybe they were named after Sloane Peterson (the gorgeous Mia Sara), who was Ferris Bueller's girlfriend?

zippey · 16/08/2013 01:05

Its awful and chavy.

Tryharder · 16/08/2013 01:13

Oh come on, you can't call a child 'Wilde'. Some parents are completely bonkers and chavvy

Weegiemum · 16/08/2013 01:14

I teach mum/baby reading. Never came across. Wilde (love it) but I've got FOUR Hamishes this year!

WideScreenViper · 16/08/2013 02:04

I've met a Wylie. Adorable girl but I couldn't adjust my feelings about the name to suit.

I don't think girls have to have frilly names but there are loads of lovely names to give your beautiful newborn instead of a rather dull surname.

NadiaWadia · 16/08/2013 03:59

Sorry but Sloane is an ugly name, even as a surname.

NadiaWadia · 16/08/2013 04:00

And Wilde is just bizarre. It's an adjective, FGS!
