I've fallen in love with an entirely unsuitable name. Any alternative suggestions?

The name is Gwilam. It is unsuitable because it is basically the Cornish version on DH's name & too similar.

If DC2 is a girl she'll probably be Isolda, or Cynthia.

But I am totally stuck for boys. Maybe Sampson, and DH likes Ulysses (no no no).

Tristan?

I don't think it being similar to your DH's name matters. In fact I think it's quite nice?

Antidote · 13/08/2013 11:00

I like Tristan. Slightly but off by the meaning.

I shall run gwilam past DH, but I'm not optimistic.

Going with the Cornish thing- don@t know if you were particularly after Cornish??

Antidote · 13/08/2013 11:30

I think it is the Cornish / Celtic angle I'm liking.

Ruan is great!

Gillan? I once taught a boy with that name and loved it - buy my DH's surname is too similar to it :(

BrieMonster · 13/08/2013 14:24

Sampson is cool!

Ooh I quite like Gwilam. Is it pronounced as you would expect? How about Quinlan?

Helspopje · 13/08/2013 14:31

caradoc?

Thumbwitch · 13/08/2013 14:53

Carwyn - it's more Welsh but I've always quite liked it.

Gwilam is lovely, not so keen on Jago (a bit too close to Iago for me)

These are great, thank you. Niall / Neil would be right at the top of the list if it wasn't completely hopeless with our surname.

What's wrong with it being too similar? Dd is named a female version of DHs name.
